I apologize beforehand but I just have to vent.... I come on this forum and I am always reading all the post about all the abused/neglected/unloved animals and it makes me absolutely furious!!! I never check out TP without reading a post about some poor dog that has been hurt, or mistreated, or put to sleep because some **Bleeping** sorry excuse of a human being didn't want them anymore, or wouldn't have them spayed or neutered, I sit here and bawl my eyes out every time. As a Christian I know it is wrong for me to feel this way, but I am sorry, some people are just too stupid to live!!! Now I will tell you MY wish for all of these people who are mean to animals....Some day they are going to have to stand before God in judgement for being mean to these precious animals, and I hope, NO!!! I pray that his punishment for them is that THEY will spend eternity, Not in fire and brimstone, but as an animal. An abused, neglected, starved, beaten, unloved animal. So they will Know what the animals they were mean to felt like, And that they remain that way for eternity. Because these people ( and I know a lot of them) think that a dog for instance has no feelings, no sense. That they don't feel love or fear. "A dog is just a dog". I pray God lets them know EXACTLY what it feels like to be a dog.

It was beckabeans post about the dog being drowned because it had mange that was the final straw. I know people don't have to be rich to have a dog, the Lord knows we're not, my husband is a disabled miner and I work as a substitute teacher, and our budget is tight, but if I could not even buy the basic necessities for myself or my kids, I would not bring another life (or more than 1) home to feed. Dogs need food, shelter, to be spayed/neutered and at least the basic veterinary care. If my Molly gets seriously sick or hurt, she'll go the the Vet if I have to hock my jewelry to get her better. Now for those every day scrapes, boo-boos, and just routine "doggie" stuff, shes gonna have to do like we do..depend on her Mamas home remedies book.
I just DO NOT understand people, and the older I get the less I understand. As I write this my Molly Beagle is laying here on the sofa, snoring on her warm, soft blanket. It makes me sick, both in mind and spirit to think of all the dogs who are outside, with no food or shelter in this winter weather. Every animal deserves someone to love and protect it.

That is one thing I have never been able to figure out. How could someone think they don't feel love or pain? You hear of pets saving their owners life whether it was dragging them to safety or alerting someone to the problem. That right there says they CAN think and they are aware of a problem. Of course it would take love and concern for them to drag or find someone to help. And those "happy tail" greetings when you come thru the door- is that not an expression of happiness and devotion?
Some people I think tell themselves that just so THEY won't feel bad. Not a real good excuse to me.
I like your punishment idea but there is one flaw. The simple fact that then there is no hope that people will quit being so horrible. That in the future people will continue to be heartless. But if that is the case then let them come back and experience it themselves.
Maybe if we had some tougher laws in this country to protect animals. That when people abuse them they get more than a slap on the wrist. If a person knew that they were facing major jail time for some of these offenses they might think twice. Here where I live I think they should pass a law that people can't get their dog tags (which are required) unless they provide proof that their pets have been spayed/neutered, unless they are proven responsible breeders. We don't have a lot of shelter adoptions in our county because animal control is a joke. people don't trust the shelter workers to be honest about anything they know about the dogs past, and in this small rural area they usually do know, and because these people have no type of training to evaluate a dogs temperament. They think if they've had it at the shelter a few hours and it hasn't tried to bite anyone this its okay to put it out for adoption. Sometimes that may be true, but sometimes its not. It all just breaks my heart, I am going to have to stop reading some of these posts. What is the answer?? I wish to the heavens I knew.
I agree with you. It's not just dogs though..but all kinds of animals in general. On a more severe abuse side, what really upsets me is how they treat the animals in the circus. After watching a show a while back, I still can't get those nasty images out of my head. WHY do people feel comfort in hurting another living thing? And you know, I think animal abuse these days are getting worse. There have been 2 cases in one week about a dog being beaten and then dragged in the alley with duck tape stuck to it's mouth. What the hell are these people on? There was another recent incident where some teenage kids trapped a harmless cat in some kind of garbage dump..and then slowly stabbed it several times while another teen video taped it screaming. That's absolutely horrendous!! I mean can you possibly imagine? It made me cry when I saw that, they didn't exactly show the whole tape (I would've walked out) but a small clip. People are disgusting and heartless. It's almost like they were born evil, if not. Animals have feelings!
I will never understand these "humans". They are all pretty warped if you asked me. Maybe their actions will cause them tragedy sometime down the road in their lives, because I do believe that what goes around, comes around.

Superwoman*** I agree with you that is absolutely horrible!!! In my own humble opinion..I think that society as a whole ( of course not all of us) have become so desensitized to violence of any kind because of the violence in movies and TV now. When I was growing up (I'm 47) we never had/saw violence in any way as bad as it is now in the media, and when something horrible ( murders/crime etc.) was broadcast on the evening news we were horrified and shocked!!! Now there is so much horribly graphic violence in movies and people watch it all the time. A lot of small children are allowed to watch some of the most horribly violent ones. And now kids, even some of the younger ones I work with don't seem to be shocked by anything anymore. Some people just have a very skewed idea of right and wrong these days, and we have to face facts that in todays world some children are never taught right from wrong. I'm just old fashioned I guess. I don't mean to offend anyone but take reality TV for instance, I don't watch it because I don't get it. How did we become such a society that it takes watching other people being humiliated and embarrassed to entertain us.? I'll take a good sit com any day. But like I said this is all just my 2 cents worth. No offense meant to anyone.
I agree, there needs to be more laws on animal abuse. This past summer, I posted about my neighbor (prior to our move), who let his 3 year old beat the stink out of their puppy. So badly that my kids were screaming out the window. We called the cops and not one officer ever came by.
Anyway, we still own that house (bad market year) and we go back to take care of the house. I noticed that his puppy was not around, but he had a new one, a GSD pup. We have been back several times and there has been no sign of the other puppy since August. I hate to think of what happened to that other pup.
The thing is, no one cared when we called. It took several phone calls to various places referring us to other numbers, yadda, yadda. They all said to call the police, and nothing. We waited for over 4 hours and never saw a squad.
I now exactly how you feel. People can be so mean to animals. They will say "They are just dogs" or "It is just a animal". Well i don't know how you/other ppl feel about this but we are animals to. I LOVE animals i look at the pets in the local pound EVERY day on the web. I always say when i look at the lost pets "How do ppl that don't wants these dogs or cats find them when i walk the NBH looking for strays LOL". The fact that ppl can be soooo cold hearted and hurt these animals like that makes me very very mad. I am happy i found this site and can talk to people that love animals as much as i do ;)
