I'm looking for suggestions for "natural", or supplements to add to my dogs food that may help w/his irritated skin, to at least bring him a little relief. Its on top of his back, large area just above his tail. Whenever I take him into the vet, he gives him a shot, last time I went the dog didnt seem to get much relief. It lasted a few days. I try & bathe him (Oatmeal shampoo) at least 2 times a month, leaving the shampoo on him for a few minutes before rinsing him off. My other dogs dont have this issue. Any help?, thanks guys
I use olive oil in the food..just a little bit or fish oil or even peanut butter which they usually love. Is it an allergy? Have you tried benedryl or the walmart brand? I have a collie that has always had dry skin and allergies. He knows to wait for his benedryl every am .
Hello, my dog used to have these issues, first off make sure you're not feeding your dog any foods with corn or wheat, these are low costing fillers put into dog food. Vets don't tell you your dog could be allergic to them, also Bi-products or un-natural preservatives. Some of the preservatives used these days are known to cause cancer. A vet is always more than willing to chalk up the itchies to allergies, but hell will freeze over before they tell you what it could be. Simple thing is do a slow food change, possible choice, is Innova. Thats what made mine stop itching. The fish oil and olive oil are good choices, but its good to find the source of the problem. I tired those things too. fish oil is also good for the heart and joints besides the skin. Oh Sams Club is now carrying a good kibble called Gold N paws. We are trying it, and its looking good thus far. Holistic good ingrediants. $1 per pound, $29.99 for 30 lbs. Thats good.
