Thats a good point but I think if the dog was uncomfortable it would get up? The boy doesnt weigh much though.Looks about maybe 50 lbs probably closer to 40.The mastiff is a working dog made to pull carts. So I dont think it could be that bad.
In my experience, Mastiff's don't complain much. And that one doesn't seem bothered by it at all. They are extremely loyal to their families, mainly to women and children. There's not much that kid could do to upset the dog.
Your right Pope...good point.I just think that any dog if it gets aggravated enough it will respond sooner or later.I know when kids hold puppies all the time the dog tends to ignore them after a while because all the kids want to do is hold them.....
Sorry i haven't posted for a little bit. I was at a birthday party for my niece.
First answer: no the tail is not docked or even short the pic just came out that way.
Second: They are indeed english (the AKC just calls them Mastiff though, as they used to be the only mastiff breed registred with AKC).
Third: I'm not entirely sure how it would hurt his back anymore than my son sitting on MY back, but the boy doesn't weigh but about 50 lbs.
The big one in the pic is seven months older than the child using him for furniture, so they are practically brothers. He actually saved my son from a neighbors dog that got loose and was coming right at him while we were on a walk.
And BTW, he only sat like that for like 20 seconds, not all day.
