I recently purchased afemale Shih Tzu and I notized today that she has a bubble the size of a nickle on her tummy. It's right in the middle of her tummy. The bubble seems as if it was water. She weighs about 2lbs and she is so tiny I'm scared of anything happening to her. I have a vet appointment at 3pm today but I was wondering if anyone knew or had an idea of what it could be? Any suggestions will be appreciated
Sounds like an umbilical hernia, if it pops in and out so easily. Keep a close eye on it to make sure it doesn't get any bigger. It is very common in Shih tzus and is easily repaired during the spaying of the dog.
Guess I pretty much agree with the other posters, that mentioned umbilical hernia.
our newest frenchie had an umbilical hernia. we were told that it was a small one and would probably disappear on its own by the time she was six months old. it too looked like a little bubble on her stomach. he told us that if it didnt go away on its own, it would be a minor surgery. shes around 9 months old and its gone. on its own. sounds like your pup has the same thing.
