a few years ago I did avon. I stoped after a few months because 1) everyone and there mom had a rep 2) they kept sending me things i didnt order 3) they kept billing me for things I didnt get
So I say this is BS and stop. Today I get a call saying I owe them 16$ and if they dont get it by 3 today they are going to sue me. I have not gotten anything from them for years. If they had sent me a bill I would have payed it. i didnt get a bill, i didnt get a phon call, I didnt get jack.
Im so mad I dont know if I should pay or let them sue me.
its strange that they would let it go for so long, and then claim that you owe them. you can ask them for proof of what you owe , either pay it or fight it. fighting it may end up being a bigger headache to you , than its worth. i would just give them the 16 dollars and be done with them totally. there are a couple of avon products that i use. i think most of their products are way overpriced for what you get.
First off - DON'T EVER ADMIT THAT YOU OWE ANYTHING.
Next - if they call again tell them you want verification of the debt IN WRITING. If they can't prove you owe them money - you owe them nothing.
Trust me, they're not going to go through the process of suing you for $16. They will probably send your info to a collection agency and that's it, but you want to keep your credit report free and clear, this is why you want to have them send you verification of the debt.
If it's a valid debt, pay it, if it's not, don't worry about it.
Remember to document who you've talked to and what the date and time was.
I checked it out online and decited to pay so i call back with my debit info and they say i have to send it western union. My bill is $16.38 western union wants me to pay a extra $16 to send it.
I looked online and found a lady who tryed to take care of it and they are still bugging her to pay. she gets between 1 and 3 calls a day saying if she does not pay by a certan time that day they are going to sue her.
I liked some of avons stuff, I liked mark alot better though. but most of it is way over priced.
Im gonna try to get ahold of avon and see if I can have them send me a normal bill and get it take care of that way. If not they can kiss my butt there is no way im paying $32 for a $16 bill
I have the guys info. I never said i owed it he said do you rember avon I said yes he said you owe so much I said ok so why didnt i get a bill. I honestly have no clue if I owe it. that was years ago no way i would rember what owe from that long ago.

I almost got inot the Avon business three eyars ago. I needed something to get me moving after Alexis was born. After I read the information packets, attended a training session and was informed of the $400 dollar buy-in cost to start with, they lost me.
They seem like your mother, sister, and niece but they are acutally calculated selling machines. I was horrible at pushing un-needed products on people so I stepped away from it. Sometimes i wonder what could have been if I had stuck with it and learned the killer instinct. Scary?!
I didnt go to training classes or anything. I found a mark book laying around called the number made an appt. the lady came over to my house gave me a bunch of things and i gave her $10.
I think avon works for some but not many. there are so many avon reps its hard to find anyone. You only choice is find young girls and keep talking to people with reps wating for there rep to eather die or stop doing avon.
i joined because i wanted to make some extra money. But it was impossable to make money when they are sending you more then you ordered and billing you for things you never got. of corse you can send it back but then you have the shiping bill.
thats what i though at first but i checked them out online. there is a ton of crap on them. Its a real business but not a very good one. They use harsh threts agenst people and call none stop untill they get there money. they have also been knowen to try to collect even after you pay.
Now that i know its a collection place Ill be able to handle it. when he first called he was very nice but sounded like a lawyer or something. dealing with collection places is a gift i was born with. They dont call us very much because we do pay all our bills but our CD club sent us to one (big miss understanding they said sorry), ATT sent us a bill for almost $200 (we didnt have ATT), and block buster sent us to one when we were late with movies. i was so mad at blockbuster I didnt give them there movies and got out of the bill.
Check the statute of limitations in your state. They have a time limit on how long after the fact that they can attempt collection, and definitely on when they can file suit. Even murders have a statute of limitations which criminals can not be charged for a crime after ___ many years.
Demand proof you owe the bill. Check the statute of limitations for your state, these junk debt collectors are always trying to collect on charged off debts. If it is past the limitation date, demand they cease and desist trying to collect.
I did get ahold of avon and I told them about the call and the lady I talked to said "he was miss informed" Then i asked why they had not sent me a bill, she said something about she cant say they did or didnt because she does not know. Im looking for the statute of limitations but so far no luck.
Written agreement that contemplates the payment of money or property: 10 Years, (Mo.Rev. Stat. §5l6.ll 0). NOTE: Under certain circumstances, the contractual statute of limitations may be reduced to five years.
Open accounts: 5 years, (Mo. Rev. Stat. §5l6.l20).
Sale of goods under the UCC: 4 years. NOTE: The statute begins to run from the date when the breach occurred for contracts and from the time of the last item in the account on the debtor's side for actions on accounts
Im not sure witch it would be but im guessing the last one. If it is then they are a year to late last night the lady i talked to said i closed the account in 2002
