Today is one of the best days for Jimmy ( mini doxie) and me
A dog walker brought a female puggle . She is so cute and friendly. Jimmy had a fantastic time with her. I have never seen Jimmy to be happier like this. She did not want to leave Jimmy alone and both had a great time
There was another man came there and gave a big lecture to me and the dog walker how bad to mix two breeds
the bottom line is this puggle is too too cute . I do not know this dog will have health problems in the future ( this man was telling this dog will have health issues in the future)
I asked the man what breed his dog is . He mentioned it is mutt ( half pit bull and half Lab) . I was telling myself how stupid he is to make fun on the Puggle when he himself has a mutt)
Secondly, irresponsible breeding ALWAYS has the chance of creating less then healthy animals when the proper health testing is not done. This is why people need to do research and educate themselves on the breed, to determine if they are the right breed for their family. Including health issues that may affect the breed (every breeds got them)
And third of all, so instead of stating your mind like this man did trying to drill the point home and spread the word (which you obviously ignored because you seem to disagree because the dog you saw was "too too cute")...you just quietly criticised him in your head then came on here to complain about it? At least he had the guts to speak up. More then likely with good reason (I did not hear the details of the conversation but I am willing to bet the "puggle" was purchased from a "breeder"), if he himself has a mixed breed.
Lastly, if someone is interested in this mix, why not go to the shelter and give a dumped dog a chance if you can't be bothered with the proper steps in acquiring a puppy and need an instant fix. Of course, like I said, with any animal that is simple bred and not health guaranteed by a reputable, experienced, honest to god real breeder...there is that chance this dog could end up costing a lot in the long wrong with all the vet care it may ultimately need.
I am sorry but I did not see anywhere where the OP said that the owner of the Puggle paid alot for it too. How do you know it was not bought from a shelter(who by the way, are taking just as much advantage of this craze as anyone - you get a purebred small breed or a highly wanted mixed breed and you pay more then you would from most breeders...... helping the animals - yeah right)
what shelter is that? the one here charges the same no matter what the dog, size breed, or mutt, 120 bucks, 160 if they are not altered yet with 40 back when you have it done, which they give a voucher for.
I want to know where those shelters are too. Here, the adult dogs are about $125 and puppies $150. That includes mixed breeds and pure breeds.
I have heard of RESCUES charging ridiculous amounts.
And I was just going on what I could understand of what was posted Katz. I find it hard to believe a man who owns a mixed breed himself, would go off on a designer dog rant without good cause. I can imagine that people who rescue, or end up with deserted animals that someone else threw away, or crappily bred in the first place...tend to not take lightly to people oohhhing and ahhing asking where they can get themselves a puggle.
bharati said he was engaged in a conversation with the girl when the man walked up and joined, who knows what was said before the lecture.
Katz, how dare you mock shelters that are doing the best they can to give dogs and cats another chance before they are forced to kill all of those animals daily. Is that not where Harley and other animals have come from? And you still have the nerve to talk like that? Shame on you.
I would not pay to be in the position of the men and women who are forced to spend day after day, seeing the love in the animal in what others threw away, only to know they haven't got much of a snowballs chance in hell to make it.... watching most of them die.
They can only (how did you sarcastically put it?) "Help" the animals so much. It us up to those putting them there, and those turning a deaf ear to them as if they don't exsist, that also need take responsibility in the ugliness.

some of you people need to get a life.If some one wants to buy a mix breed it is there choice and since they are the one buying it they dont have to go to a shelter it is there money. they are some of those so called back yard breeders on here selling dogs but since they pay the fee to advertise that oks and they dont have to listen to the same people bash backyard breeders or designer breeds.
All my puggles look 95% the same and none of them have had any health issues to speak of so tell me why that is the one big argument here get a mixed breed from a pound well from what keeps coming up is that mixed breeds are unhealthy then why would some one want a pound puppy if it will be unhealthy. Mixed breeds are no less healthy in my opinion then purebreeds so don't be ashamed to love and think puggles are cute because they are.
My puggle is 2 & a 1/2 years ols and she is very sweet and has never had any problems. I will never understand why so many people on this sight have issues with them. Do you also believe that it is irresponsible for people to breed outside of their race or ethnicity? Don't you believe that all dog breeds started out as a mixture? I called 3 different vets and asked their opinion and all three said mixed breeds not only make better pets they almost always have less health problems.
Husky do you have a list of dogs that have never had a healthy issues because you should post it so no one ever has to buy a doy that might get sick again. I would also like to know that if you ever knew anyone that ended up with an illness that didn't run in there family be cause as it does happen with humans it also happens with dogs ,cats , monkeys. I was just saying that none of my pups beagle or puggle have had issues not that they never will I do live in the real world.
Nadia, your vets you called are completely STUPID then.
That is absurd to say a mixed breed makes a better companion. And not good press for purebred dogs in rescue either. What a terrible thing to say.
It is also a myth that mixed breeds are healthier than purebreds. I have had more mutts with health issues than purebreds with health issues.
And in a few years, when Puggles are bred like purebred dogs are (like that'll ever happen) they will have just as many health problems. MANY breeds started out as intentional crosses, not all, and they all have their own health problems today. Are you completely ignoring that FACT? Do you not understand breeding long-term? I suggest you do some research on breeds, and look at their health problems. They didn't just spring up because they are purebreds, they developed over time. And the same will happen with every single designer breed today if they intend to try and turn them into breeds. Get used to it, the arguments for designer dogs can easily be batted down and locked away with the facts against them.

Husky what kind of vet only Doctors purebreed dogs? None if Vets were so against mixed breeds they would only see purebreeds and soon all the mixes would die off since they are so unhealthy right? then you would get board since you would have no one to b***h at. Do also bash mixed childern stop their parents at the store and tell them they should of just adopted instead of mixing races. as I stated before try this little experiament next time one of your perfect huskies goes in to heat let her choose her mate of 2 oir 3 different breeds are you sure she would only breed with a husky?
Molly, honestly. Next time you post, make sure you're going to make sense. Nothing of what you just said had anything to do with what I said. You are a human. Learn to act like one and stop tapping the keyboard with your nose.
Trying to have a normal conversation with you is like talking to a broken speak and spell.
