Some of ya'll must have sent good puppy vibes our way b/c we've had quite a good bit of progress these last few days. Harley, the Wonder Pup has decided that cat food is bad (thanks to a MAJOR hiss from Bubba T. Cat). I still have to stand next to him while he eats but when Bubba leaves I pick his bowl up and theres nothing left but Harleys food bowl. I guess it was a no brainer to begin with. = ) As for the potty training...WOO HOO! He's going outside AND using his puppy pads. Of course, there are still some accidents but we handle it w/humor, love and carpet cleaner. When he goes on his pad, he comes to find me and theres LOTS of praise and kisses and puppy treats. Just like a baby, he didnt come here already knowing what we expected him to do and each one is different. I've decided there is no real rule of thumb in training. You just have to research for honest info and then TAKE what you get USE what works BEST for your family and your pet. I've taken what some of you have given me, I've read the Dachshund book (or one of them) been to a Doxie website, spoke w/the breeder (who said, it will just click oneday") and listened to what the husband has "heard" from the "weenie dog man at his work". Oh, as for the husband who was opposed to and inside dog, he stops as soon as he walks in the door at night and plays w/Harley, calls himself "daddy" to him too. = ) I love seeing the pictures ya'll send of your babies, I'm going to try and get some on here soon so you can see for yourself the "look".
