I love all of the names ya'll have for your animals. After reading about the cuddlers, I started thinking "how did you all come up w/the names"?.
I have a cat whos name is Bubba. Just before we got him I had been reading a series of books called "The Southern Sister Mysteries". They were written by a lady from Birmingham (where I'm from) and one of the charecters had a cat named Bubba who would sleep on her kitchen counter top on a heating pad. I thought what a cool name for a cat. When we got him all of my people laughed and told me NOT TO NAME HIM THAT! Now, to look at him, he's just a big ol Bubba.
When I got Harley a few weeks ago, I had always said "if I ever get a Doxie, I'll name it Link, Frank, Jimmy Dean" then when we got him he didnt look like any of those so I said, Jerry Lee, TonyStewart, Killer, Cujo (glad I opted against the last two) but my son said "Bubba comes from a book so his name should too". Boo Radly, Scout, and we almost decided on Harper but then I saw him run and I knew "Harley". Hes low to the ground, sleek and VERY fast.(plus, he makes rumbly noises at times)
Riddick is named after Vin Diesel's anti-hero character from the Sci-fi movie "Pitch Black" Great movie, if you haven't seen it, watch it :) Even if you don't like Vin Diesel it's still an excellent movie. Anyway his registered name is "Fullmoon Pitch Black" aka Riddick. It's unusual, I have yet to meet anyone with that name so its awesome.
Bowen is named after Dennis Quaid's knight character Bowen from the movie Dragonheart, where Sean Connery is the voice of hte dragon. We really considered "Draco" but it just didn't fit our puppy, and Bowen was a closer match. What's really funny is that we didn't realize Mike's cousin had married a guy who's last name was Bowen ;P
Ok, Lex and Lana are named from my husbands all time favorite show, Smallville (Lex luthor lana lane) My sons named Miles because there is a boy at church they are convinced my daughter has a crush on so to her horror he got the name miles and Chilli is white with a pink nose and looks like he is chilly all the time .
Appollo: Like Appollo Creed off of one of the Rocky movies.
Daisey: (Doberman) Thats just what she looked like my boyfriend had wanted one all of his life and was trying to think of names that sound mean like.. but as soon as we saw her she was our little Daisey.
Princess: (Min Pin) self explanitory she is mommies little princess she was the first dog i ever got and i spoiled her rotten. But when i saw her she melted my heart so she is my Princess.
My Brother has a cat though and the name is Poonie why you ask? well my brother is a perv and poonie is kind of a nickname used in regards to certain parts of a womans anatomy. LOL again My brothers doing. sweet cat though!
I had a Newfie named Ewok because he looked just like a fuzzy Ewok when he was 8 weeks old. The people I got him from called him Freckles because he had spots on his belly. Ewok went to the Rainbow Bridge last April at the age of 10. Now I have a 4 yo Great Dane named Waldo. Don't know why we picked that but it sure fits him now--he's all legs!! I wanted to teach him to "speak" when somebody said "where's waldo?" but he's not quite smart enough.
Riley I got from a baby name book. It just seemed to fit him. His middle name is Star after my cousins dog that died before Ri was born. So his registered name is just Riley Star.
Jasmine, I picked out long before I even thought of getting her. I just thought it was a great name. Her middle is Lula after her mama. her registered name is Jasmine Wheres Your Backbone because she was born with a bone shaped marking on her back that disappeared around 10wks of age.

Our oldest male Chi is named Chico. My husband named him kindof after the water game(marco polo). Our baby girl Chi is named CiCi. We named her CiCi because it was close to being CHiCHi but we didn't want some real popular.
There was five of us naming our new puppy, that was two years ago. Long story short, my mother who was 85 liked the name Brody, my boys and hubby were not too thrilled with that so I was trying to come up with something close to that and well my hubby has a hobby called Cowboy Action Shooting and he loves cowboy stuff so I thought of Cody, a good old cowboy name and close to Brody so when I suggested to everyone they were happy with it so we have our sweetie pie Cody! Here is a pic of Cody at about2 yrs. old.
My son was given a Black Pug by his aunt. They called him "Boo" because he was black (yes, it was racially motivated), but we kept the name because he has a white marking on his chest that looks like a Halloween Ghost. He has got to be the dumbest dog alive, but also the sweetest. Rescued dog--full blooded.
My daughter's dog "Oreo" got his name from me. He was a Springer Spaniel mix and his paws looked like Oreo crumbs in milk (you know, the leftover crumbs in the bottom of the cup). Singly, the smartest dog I'd ever seen. Rescued dog.
My "Pound puppy". My pound puppy was "Mink". I had gone to the pound to get a neuter certificate for my son's dog, "Boo" and stopped to look. WRONG CHOICE!! She and a solid white male sibling were in the pen together and a little boy took the male. She leaned over against the fence and just dropped her head. Both had been rescued from a fire and were only 6 wks old. I picked her up and she stole my heart!! I ended up taking her home that day. She had beautiful, shiny black/brown fur with a little blond on her face and paws. Just reminded me of a luxurious mink coat. That's IT! "MINK"! Well, she became my angel. My children still swear that I loved her more than them! (She did listen better than they did.) Several months ago she was stolen from outside my house. I have grieved non-stop for her. The pound thought that she was a Spitz/mix but I think that she was a full-blooded Tibetan Spaniel. I have faith that she will be home, though. By the way, she ended up being VERY blond with only a little black and brown on her back.
"Simon" - While visiting St. Simon's Island, GA this summer, a white Bischon came strolling up the beach. A woman was trying to find his owner. He only had a groomer's lead on him and a patch of fur on his behind had not been groomed yet. She needed to get back to her elderly mother and I promised that I would try to find the owner. Several attempts have been made to locate the owner, but to no avail. I wanted to call him "Beach Bum" or "Hobo" until we found the owner. My daugher refused. I said, "OK, how about Simon?" for St. Simon's Island. Well, that was OK and now Simon is a great part of my life. He has helped ease the loss of "Mink" and become a part of the family. He'll be great company for her while I'm at work when she returns.
