I have been working on a new addition to the family and the paper work came back today and said I was definitely qualified to adopt a new member of the family.
Before I bring him home I'm planning to take Wiley and Blaze to meet him. His name is Suki (not crazy about the name so if anyone has suggestions that would be great)
Suki is a 4 year old Siberian Husky. He lost his dad to collage and Grandma didn't want to take care of him and his brother. He brother has been adopted out so Suki is sitting at the shelter with no home to call his own.
If things go OK with the meeting of the dogs I will bring him home for a two week trial. This shelter demands a trial period. So every one please keep there fingers crossed and hope Wiley and Blaze love him! Because I fell head over heals for him already! :)
He is a beautiful boy. There are a lot of people up in this area that have sled dogs. The UP 200 Midnight Run is held every winter in Upper Michigan. It starts in Marquette, up on Lake Superior and runs throughout the central Upper Peninsula. Dog teams from around the country and Canada compete and the entire area celebrates the affair.
It's a huge race, even our Governor has participated in the event. Right now the organization is pushing for host families for the mushers, there just aren't enough hotels to house all the participants and the spectators. Upwards of 10,000 people show up for the festivities.
Hope you enjoy the website.
People that compete here have also gone on to do the Iditarod in Alaska.
The sport you have chosen and the dogs in your family are a part of a growing segment of the winter activities that have become a lifestyle for so many.
