Hi, I am new here to posting, but read the discussion board all the time...I have had terriers all my life. I love the breed...As far as getting your money back, I believe that it would depend on the state that you live in and what is stated in any actual contract signed by both parties. Some states have "puppy lemon laws". Check out your state's website for information on that. For example, in the state I live in, if a contract was signed stating that the pup had papers, they must be provided to you within x-number of days, or you are entitled to 1/2 your money back and keep the pup, or you can return the puppy for a full refund. I don't think asking for vet bill reimbursement will do you any good, since you would have vet bills regardless of the puppy being purebred or a mixed breed. Good luck...
If you only paid $225 for the puppy, is it really worth going to court over? Once you go to court and possibly pay a lawyer fee, it's probably going to cost you more money than it did to buy the puppy in the first place. I'm sorry you were sold a mixed breed puppy, and if you had paid 1000 then I would definitely say go to court but I don't know if $225 would be worth it to me. It's not going to change the fact that your puppy isn't purebred.
I think klkreig has a good idea. Because i dont actually want to go to court and have the chance of losing my baby. She tricked me i think its time for payback, Ill have my parents talk to her and have them go to her house. And tell her that if she doesnt show proof of papers, that we're going to go get the dog checked out and see if its purebred, and if its not that we're going to take her to court with the fake paper she wrote us. At least getting half the money for the dog, and half the money for the vet bill...Ima make an attempt to try this out today.
And who ever said "why would you buy a dog that doesnt look purebred" I dont remember who it his, but sometimes you cant tell until the dog grows up a little bit.
I asked why you bought her. Maybe I read it wrong, I thought in your first post that when you want to buy the pup you said she looked nothing like a purebred. Is there something wrong with your pup, why do you want her to pay half the vet bills?
Its ok. Umm, no theres nothing wrong, I just need to bring her for shots and everything that she was suppose to do. Its just a little revenge for lying to me and selling me a mixed breed. So ima make an attemp to get half the money back and some money for the vet.
I have to ask how old the puppy was when you got it?
I am going to make a leap and assume that the puppy was 8 weeks old. It is not possible to give any puppy the vaccination which will cause it to have permanent immunity until it is 16 weeks old. How is that the breeder's responsibility? It is kind of like buying a car and expecting the last owner to change the oil and fix the brakes as long as you own the car. When you buy a puppy it should have the number of vaccinations appropriate for it's age, you are responsible for any further medical needs not covered by a written guarantee.
What makes you believe the puppy is another breed, and just out of curiosity what breed?
