They had to put Riddick on IV meds and keep him overnight at the vets for 2 days, because he couldn't keep food and water down, they were afraid he'd get dehydrated. After that, he was fine, and got his appetite back np.
If I were you I would go on the internet to see what pet emergency is closest to you. I sure hope your dog gets better keep a really close eye on her at all times make sure she is still eating her food. She could just have a flue, fever or cold, but you never know so try taking her to a vet. If you don't know where a good vet place would be, you should probably ask your friends where they take there pets. well I sure hope your doggy gets better. If I saw my dog go through such A thing I would be freaking out and scared to death. Good Luck!
well we are back, from the vet. blood work was good. stool was clear. glucose was way down like 61. she is not dehydrated but she is still not eating or drinking. he gave her nutri-cal, amoxil, and reglan, and a dexamethasone shot. he did xrays too, which were clear but showed somegas. relived in a way yes, frustrated in a way too, because we still do not have an answer. we found an awsome vet through, but he is an hour away. a small price to pay for little bella.
bella is still at the vet. she has been there since about 2 am monday morning. all blood work is normal. her upper gi showed slow movement in her digestive track. i am not sure what that means exactly as fas as diagnosis. they want to keep her for 3 more days. i am so sad without her. she is up and down at this point. please pray for us. if you have any info please let me know
They said the Upper GI does not show a blockage but that it not not moving through fast enough. I am desperate. they want to do an ultrasound now but they are going to have to take her another hour away to do it !!! I do not now what to do at this point.
Three nights ago, at 3am.. I got my 11 week old Toy Poodle out of his cage for a potty break... and he could not stand up at all. The beginning of the day he had a little watery poo, and wouldn't eat/drink. At around noon he has some more watery poo, and drank a bit but went right back to sleep. At around 3am I got him out to play, and he could not stand up at all.. I took him instantly to the emergency vet.
IV's, Nutrical, 200 dollars and three days later... he had coccidia. He was very near death when I took him in. It blows me away that he declined so badly in the span of 5 hours. Something that could have been prevented for a 5-10 dollar pill had the "breeder" been honest with me. She told me they had all been treated as 'precaution' for coccidia, worms and had their shots. I am so angry. It's not even about the money, I get my taxes soon.. it's the fact that that lady couldn't have told the truth if it had hit her in the face. At least I get my baby tomorrow. That I am happy about.
I just wanted to let you know that we finaly got little Bella home. It has been an up and down valley. The final report.. She had to have surgery because the barium from the upper gi still had not passed it had actually started to reverse. They were also showing clumping in her intestines. They went on to do the surgery at 4 and got done around 6. They found a 2 foot piece of string that she had swallowed and it had wrapped aroung the back of her tongue and went the rest of the way down to her inestines. They had to put 500 !!! stitches in her little body to repair all the damage. The vet told us that he did not think that she would make it thru the night. We were crushed. I sat up all night afraid the phone would ring with bad news. We took it 1 day at a time. She got to come home Tuesday and got her staples out Thursday. She is our little miracle doggie!!! They said she should be ok now, we just have to be very careful what we feed her. She is getting stronger every day. She had lost down to 3.5lbs and looks scary skinny, but she had gained 1/4lb when she went back thursday. With this bad experience we found the bets vets in the whole world. They treated her like a princess.
Oh My gosh, Wha an ordeal. One thing to always do is check your dog mouth thoroughly. It was wrapped on your dogs tounge. Wow. Thank god you baby is alright. Always keep nutrical around for these little breeds too. If they seem down give them a dose.
Whoever said you can't buy happiness, must have never owned a dog!!!!!!!!!!!
