Before you go with a purebred cat can I just suggest you take a trip to your local SPCA. I volunteer at the one near my home and let me just tell you there are some really beautiful cats there. If I didn't already have 4 of them myself I sure would take a few of them home.
All 4 of my cats were found on the street. I found 2 of them underneath buildings, 1 in a dumpster and 1 in a paper bag on the side of the road. I get so much love from them. It's as if they know that I saved them.
we have a white persian (sp) she is a trip. we had her declawed and now she jumps like a kangaroo. she is very hyper and as soon as we can get her fixed ( you know my vet situation) i am sure she will calm down some. it seems like she is in heat every 2 weeks.
I have 5 boxers and 3 siamese cats. I personally will never own anything but a siamese. I hated cats. My husband wanted one and now I cannot imagine life without them. They are potty trained!!!! They are the smartest little things. The boxers love them. I would from my own experience say GET A SIAMESE!!!!!
>> So im still looking for comments on which kind of cats you guys have and which one you think I should get! <<
I don't think I will be much help. My black and gray stripe cat Lucy is a real sweetie! We found her in a parking lot when she was a teen. She is still to this day rather feral and only comes to a handful of people.
Macy is a brown and black stripe cat. We got her from a friends barn. Her mother was killed and she was still to young to be on her own so we took her. She is a bit more outgoing and very sweet/playful.
Sasha is our tortie. She is a really strange cat. She has no fear of strangers at all. She also has a "hair fetish" only with my hair though-LOL! I have very long hair and since Sasha was a kitten she used to like to climb under it and put her claws thru it like she was brushing it. She also drools anytime she is near my hair- very strange.
Each cat is as different as night and day. Hard to believe they are all from the same household.
Go to the shelter and look at a few. Once one catches your eye they usually have a room you can sit in with the cat. Or have you considered fostering? That is a great way to really get to know different animals and if one ends up being a good fit you can always adopt it!
I wanted an all white medium haired cat with blue eyes, I was going to name her Isabelle, low & behold white cats can be very difficult to find in rescue, who knew. Anyway I went to the rescue for 9 weeks before I found Simone, I needed a kitten who was laid back, cuz of the siberians, and my other cat. Also she fit the bill perfectly, and it turns out I made the right choice. The other 2 cats we liked were the Bengal, and chartreux. Desiree we found at the city pound she fit the bengal look for us, and Gracie is from the same rescue as Simone only 10 yrs apart. Here they all are.
