This may be a retarded question, and I apologize in advance. louie seems to LOVE chewing on this mini tennis ball like chewing gum. He's a large dog now, and I think it's small enough that it might get lodged in his throat. Understandably, he should not be playing with this toy in the first place, but it got me thinking about the worst case scenario. Would the heimlich maneuver work on a dog with a small toy lodged in his throat?
The first one made me laugh for some reason... The second article seems like better advice. I don't think I could pick Louie up and shake him upside down, but I can do the other ones... that was very interesting - thanks for the links.
The SPCA website is wrong. never try to grab or remove an object lodged, it will just get pushed further in. I did the heimlich on a rotti who swallowed a tennis ball. and then dog cpr. it worked. frisco is still alive and kickin.
