I got a call this morning from a friend of a friend of a friend or whatever she was.. she called me up this morning said oh I heard your real good with dogs can I ask you some questions. Ok, no problem . well she starts going on about well my pomeranian is pregnant i think, she's really fat and i can feel things moving so i guess she is pregnant right? Ok by this time Im thinking this woman has a screw loose or something I told her you seriously havent taken her to the vet to find out? she said no cause they have been breeding in nature for millions of years etc...(how many wild poms do you see out in the wild?) Idiot girl. Ok so I digress.. then she blows me out of the water with this, well anyway I was thinking I will trade you one of my pom babies if you will breed her with your chihuahua and we can have pomchi's cause they are worth lots of money. UGH.. I hung up on her
i feel your frustration. there are tons of ignoramouses all throughout the world unfortunately.
for instance. the other day a guy brought in a litter of dobie pups to have their dewclaws removed and their tails docked. each one of the pups that we did bled profusely. i have never seen so much blood when doing either of these two procedures. so the dr said she was going to ask the owner if he had tested the parents for VWD. so she brings the pups back to their owner and comes back a few minutes later with this look on her face. i looked at her and said ... don't tell me, they had no clue what vonwillebrands disease is right ? she shook her head and said they did not. unbelievable, but then again, sadly not so =(
Mostly I really feel like IF you are going to breed your dog at least give it the care it needs and deserves , I mean we go to doctors when we are pregnant what makes them any diffrent? secondly people like her should never breed anything, god if she wants to mate something let her mate socks out of the dryer lol!
I have a black lab mix with boarder collie well when I was out walking my two dogs, the guy asked if she was fixed I said yes she is a mix anyway he said you can't tell except that small white spot and she would have been a good dog to breed with his lab. I said well no b/c she is a mix so they wouldn't be pure, he said you wouldn't be able to notice and he would have liked to try. I said even if she were pure I would have had her fixed since I don't breed dogs. I thought that was backyard breedish of him.
