My 10-week old Golden Ret. pup hates her crate! During the day we keep it in the living room, by the kitchen entry. I usually only crate her when I have to run errands (2 hours tops). At night we bring the crate into the bedroom and she is quiet, but we still have to forcibly put her in the crate.
I have tried putting all her toys in.... she just takes them out ("rescues them" I call it!). I've tried throwing treats in... she either won't go in or quickly snatches them and hops out. She will go in to eat her food, but I'm afraid she will flip out if I close the door on her. Any suggestions?
Do not force the dog into the crate. That is conlict. Exactly what we do not want. Try throwing 2 or three treats in so, or jsut be quick in shutting the door. then feed her through the door after you shut it. and sometimes let her go in there and eat and walk right out.
I believe a dog's finest hour, the greatest fulfillment he holds dear, is when he has worked his heart out in a good cause and lies exhausted on the field of battle-with a ball in his mouth."
