I am sorry to hear about Lilie! I just had to put my old shepard down (Timber) last week AND IT ISNT EASY! But when you know they are in pain and hurting it isnt in there best interest to make them suffer any longer. If your mom cant do it right now at LEAST make sure he she is on pain pills! Im sorry for what you are going through! Majorlover
Life is too short!!! tell someone you LOVE them today!
Aww, i'm sorry. =( My labrador retriever had to be put down at 14 1/2 and it isn'y easy. Majorlover~ I'm sorry to you too! =( I remember reading a post about Timber a while ago saying he wasn't doing good.
I am so sorry for what you are going through. Having to make the decision to PTS is the hardest thing in the world to do.But when they are suffering we have to help them. I've been there and I understand what you are going through. God Bless.

I am so sorry that she is in so much pain. I know how heartbreaking this is for everyone. She HAS lived longer than the expected 8-10 years for the average lifespan of the Pyr. You must have given her wonderful care throughout her life to keep her with you so long.
Pyr hugs from my crew.

Edie, you will know when the time comes that your beloved Lillie is not enjoying quality life anymore. It sounds like she is in a lot of pain, and may be just hanging on to please you and your family.
Perhaps the most humane thing to do is have a heart to heart talk with Lillie. Tell her that you love her and thank her for being with you for so long, but tell her that it is ok for her to go now. Dogs understand so much, it is frightening.
It is so hard to lose a friend that has been such a big part of your life for so long, but we can't be selfish and ask them to endure suffering and pain, either. I grieved for my yellow Lab when she passed at age 15, but thinking of all the good times we had together made it somewhat easier to endure.
Choose your friends by their character and your socks by their color.
Choosing your socks by their character makes no sense. Choosing your friends by their color is unthinkable.
