I have a 5 yr old staffordhsire terrier, that ate the wooden handle of a steak knife and was in a lot of pain this morning. He ate his breakfast and passed a stool, but had trouble walking on his back legs and kept his tail tucked between his legs. He ate it about 10 hours ago. Should I wait to see if he will pass it, or take him to the vet asap?
If I were you I would take him to the vet.How much?there could be a large peice of wood stuck in his stomach,Can you feel any thing when you feel his stomach,if so take him to the vet.Has he passed any already? I will be praying for you and you'r dog. Abigail
I would take the dog to the vet. My reasoning is that wood can splinter into pieces. There could be some sliver of wood poking an intestine or other organ in the body. As the other poster state, good luck and please keep us advised.
I like him a lot better than I like most people. To you he's a dog. TO me he's an adopted son who is short, hairy, walks on all fours and doesn't speak clearly. I have no problem with any of these. <
I'm sorry but....he is in alot of pain he had trouble walking on his back legs..... And they have to ASK if the dog should see a vet? You bet if it was them personally, they would have been in the ER a long time ago!
People are like slinky's, not really good for much. But its still fun to push them down the stairs.
>>> You bet if it was them personally, they would have been in the ER a long time ago! <<<
That's my rule of thumb. If I would go see a doctor or I would suggest my husband should go then my pet goes! Though something like that I would have been on the phone with a vet ER within moments of discovery.
