My 6mo old Wheaten seems to still have trouble sorting out when sound (dog barking, horn blowing) is coming from the television, i am not sure if its because of surround sound or if her hearing hasn't matured yet. When she hears a horn blowing on TV she runs to the door or windows barking. Is this normal?
my dogs do that also- but we also have surround sound..lol dont know if they just cant tell where the the noise is coming from. Some times i get confused and wonder where the noise is coming from..lol They will hear some one knocking on a door or door bell on tv and they go running to the door barking thier heads off- Dogs barking on tv they go running to the door- Now if they would only go running to the door when they had to go potty that would be great!!!! lol Im pretty sure its normal tho-
yep its normal. we dont have a doorbell at our house so when a doorbell rings on TV my odgs dont associate it with anything, except for salty. she will bark as if someone is at the door. so her former house must have had a doorbell.
at work, i will occasionally knock on the kennel door to get the kennel kids attention and at least half of the dogs in the kennel will start barking.
Our lives begin to end the day we become silent about things that matter.
I think that is just normal for all dogs. Mine will bark if they hear a door bell or whatever on t.v. I just say, Its not ours" and they hush. Sometimes when I say that to Tina and she is laying on the couch, she will just growl. Its like she still just has to fuss even if it is t.v.
If I am watching Animal Planet at night, I have to turn the volume down because 3 of my 4 dogs will bark if they hear other dogs barking on tv. They quiet down once I tell them it was just on tv but the initial barkfest wakes up the hubby.
If I am watching Animal Planet and its the animal police shows, I have to turn the T.V. way down because when my dogs (rescues) hear the sound of the dogs in the shelter barking, they go and stand in front of the T.V. and cry, whine, and howl. They react to no other dogs on T.V. bark, but those shelter dogs...oh man!
