Hi, I am new in this site. This may have been covered, so my apologies if it has. My one year old puppy was rescued from the shelter back in May of last year ('06). She was spayed at the pound before we got her. It took her incision a while to heal up, got some redness and whatnot. We were able to manage the redness, and it did finally heal up. I think it took a good two months to look better. So, after it was healed up, there has been a small kind of lump at the top of the incision site. It hasn't gotten any bigger. It almost feels like a muscle pull or something. It doesn't hurt when we push on it, she doesn't yelp or bite. Has anyone else had this happen? We haven't been to the vet since summer, and I know I should be taking her in. I guess maybe I am hoping someone will chime in and tell me it's probably not that big a deal. I don't think it's a hernia, I read up on those, and it doesn't fit the description. Any insights?
She's a border collie, and very active. I keep wondering if she pulled something in the months following the surgery since she is so prone to running.
It could be scar tissue. I think for your peace of mind you should take her to the vet. If the bump has been there for some time and hasn't grown, I doubt its a tumor. A muscle pull would probably be somewhat painful. Good luck with your pooch.
I like him a lot better than I like most people. To you he's a dog. TO me he's an adopted son who is short, hairy, walks on all fours and doesn't speak clearly. I have no problem with any of these. <
Well I was going to say it was a hernia. But aren't they born with them. I could be wrong about that. Humans can get them later in life. I'd bring her in for a check up. Dogs should have a yearly check up anyways.
Whoever said you can't buy happiness, must have never owned a dog!!!!!!!!!!!
