Does anyone know how long Strongid needs to kill the hookworms that have infected my Pomeranian, Pixie? I have a three year old little girl that I bought the dog for and she wants to play with her new dog but the thought that the dog has worms grosses me out. Any help with this would be much appreciated.

no. no. no. no. no! do not let your child play with the dog yet. pinky's site is a pretty good site... there are many though. google hookworms. sorry that your dog is sick- this site says how long it takes for meds to kick in...

Take her to the vet so she can be treated and also they can start her on heartworm meds that she will take monthly and it will rid her of any other worm problems except maybe tape. But, she definetly needs to be on something like Interceptor, Heartguard, or some of the other good ones for the rest of her life.
there is indeed a great deal of difference between HW medications. Heartgard only treats rounds & hooks & because it has Ivermectin in it cannot be used on dogs prone to seizures such as cockers. Collies & several others cannot withstand the Ivermectin either.
