i just got a beagle and we all readly have a pet parrot and we are afraid that the dog with eat it, can any on e tell if there is a way to help them get along or is our bird going tobe eaten ? please help
Ghostsgirl: About your concern about your Beagle eating your pet Parrot. At present, I have 5 Parrots ranging from an African Grey to a Blue&Gold Macaw along with my wife having a mixed Terrier. They get along fine. I have had a Boxer in the past and he was fine (except for wanting to play with our one Cockatoo). I even had a field trial trained English Pointer some years back; again, no problems. Hope this helps. The big secret is; as another person said; to let them socialize with bird in cage first and Never out while not carefully supervised.
I have 2 parakeets and a puppy huskey/collie cross and when i brought angel the pup home i never moved the cage off the table that is knee level in front of the window. angel does sniff the cage occasionally but if you stay on top of the situation the beagel will learn that the birds have sinority..so to speak..just keep an eye on them when they are in the same room together and don't let the birds out of the cage when the dog is in the room or house that would be asking for trouble...good luck
