I recently purchased a pit mix from my local spca.( he looks to be all pit) I was wondering if anyone has had success with raising a pit pup with cats or other dogs? I am assuming since he is 8 weeks there will be no problems but so many websites I have gone to have contradicting info. I have even seen breeder pics of adult pits together and pics with cats. I have also read a pit even raised with other animals can get aggressive as they mature. I know it all depends on the dog in question. I just wanted to know if there are any success stories out there. Thanks Monica
i have a pit/black lab mix female, going to be 3 in august and she does really well with our two cats. we've had her since she was three months old and she grew up with them. i can't vouch for the strays outside, though. she does chase them! hope that helps!
We have a pitbull and she is awesome with all other animals. Our friend who sometimes visits has a three-legged cat that he brings with him and they get along great. I just brought home a schnauzer puppy and she is great with him too. I think it is how you raise them. Just make sure you socialize your puppy early. We take ours to the dog park everyday. There is a pack of pitbulls there daily who get along great with all the other dogs. Good luck with yours.
We have a full blooded pit that's about 1 1/2 years old and a boxer only a few months older than her. They are both female and we got the pit when she was about 3 months old. They have been raised together and we keep them in the same kennel when we leave. They play fight all the time but that's all. Our pit recently had puppies and we had to separate them for that reason. She was a little bit snappy when my boxer got near her pups at first but now they are just fine. I think as long as they are raised together they will be fine but watch closely b/c all are different.
