Why would some one want to name a store that?I under stand that the "B" word only means a dog mom but still why does that word have to be so BIG?I think some one didn't have a good imaganation on thinking of a name,or mabye to much imaganation! What is the store any ways?
Don't think I'd be going in that store to shop, though some people may think that the name fits me at times! lol Seriously, why would someone do that, I understand that a female dog is a bitch by not everyone (I hate to say it) is a dog lover and may not know that and a lot don't care what a female dog is called seeing that word could be very upsetting to some no matter how it is meant.
is not that the store owned by the guy with the min fox terrier on bravo's show dogs? It doesn't bother me, that is the proper term for a female dog. And if anyone watches dog show they will here it over and over. And the lady in the article ask what the tell her child. Just say it means female dog.
I dont think its right to have it called that , but alot of ppl do call their dogs by that name. When i first joined this forum i was amazed at how many ppl called their dogs a bitch- Yes i know what the word really means but it took me a while to get use to hearing ppl well reading ppl calling their dog a bitch..lol still gets me tho- alot of dog lovers /dog ppl do use the word bitch when referring to their female dogs so this is who they are trying to bring in to the store. But with little kids and stuff ive never told my kids that bitch is a female dog. and they are 12,14,16 lol never really thought about it till joining this site. lol
It's kind of funny, actually, to see so many people hot to trot over a word, that originally has a completely different meaning than what a lot of people apply that word as. Most folks don't even KNOW what the word bitch means, they just think it has something to do with their ex-wife...I live in the Seattle area and when this was on the news, the reporter actually told a woman that the word "bitch" meant a female dog, and the woman called her a liar on the live news and accused the reporter of making excuses for the shop. So in some ways, a lot of the issues do deal with a degree of ignorance, heh.
I think too, that it's a trademarked name (brand name) and because of that,it's protected to some degree from censorship, and most folks are going to have a hard time getting them to have the name changed.
Same as the "F" word, the "B" word has come to have many meanings far away from its original meaning.
Funny thing, my mom and I were just discussing the effenheimer the other day. It is so offensive to her. Well, as we talked about it, she came to realize it really only offends her if it's applied to a person. She doesn't mind if it's used any other way.
I don't find the store name offensive, per se, but I can see how parents of young children would. 'Course you can explain what it really means, but most moms don't want their two-year-old asking, after they learn the original meaning, "Mommy, is that dog a b*tch?" out in general public. It's just not acceptable by people in general because of its modern-day derogatory connotations.
Same thing, I guess, when I was mortified by my two-year-old son announcing in a crowded restaurant, at the top of his lungs, "I do TOO have to go to the bathroom, I got pee comin' out of my p*nis!"
I saw that too. I wouldn't be offended by it but if a kid read that some might repeat it. I think that even knowing the meaning that sounds kind of odd. It sounds more like they are using it in a bad way. JMO
