What exactly is the tone of your voice intending to accomplish. What behavior?
How does this fit into learning theory?
I am sure the trainer is trying to get you to be able verbaly discpline the dog. Sometimes as trainers we have constraints. I am a male, I can be very intimadating to my dogs. But no matter how hard I try. I will never have a voice like my wife. What I am getting at, Is maybe you are not capable of this. That's okay...we just have to find a different mode of communication to teach the dog.
I believe a dog's finest hour, the greatest fulfillment he holds dear, is when he has worked his heart out in a good cause and lies exhausted on the field of battle-with a ball in his mouth."
WE'll i was like you with my husbands dog, sweet voice and all, but now I have learned to get mad at the dog with a serious tone and he listens so much better. You really need to try and get a mean tone out because you never know, your dog could be eating a big chocolate candy bar and because he thinks he is the boss he will eat it all and be sick, if you don't learn to get a mean tone out of ur voice your dog is not gonna listen to you! So start by making a mean face and talking loud and mean, look at urself in the mirror and do it until you think it looks scary lol I watched supernanny before and she did this to the parents because they were being to nice lol It worked for them! You can do it, it will take a lot of work, but it can happen! If you have ever had brothers or sisters and have fought with them before, use that voice that screams and is rude lol Good Luck!
