yeah, we rent a 100 year old house in the middle of 60 acres and the developers bought the whole thing and we had 2 bassets 2 doberman, a boxer and a boston terrier. Our landlord has us another house but it is in a subdivision and we cant have all those dogs there. the reason we have so many dogs is because when my boyfriend moved in we became the brady bunch. I worked at a vet office as a tech so it really didnt matter. they were pretty easy to care for on 60 acres.
we found a home for one of the dobes and the boxer. they are going to let us keep the boston..the bassets are 11 years old so they wouldnt live that long but they just wont go for it. it is very hard to get a house that you can have pets here....espically a dobe. people are such idiots when it comes to dobes. they are sweet and loveable just dont come over their territory
I hate the excuse "I'm moving and can't take my pets." That's bull because there are plenty of places out there that allow pets...you just have to pay for it. If your pets are really important to you, you'll keep searching until you find a place where they could be with you. I could NEVER give my dog up just because I was having a hard time finding a place where I could live and have her too. I would keep looking until I found a place.
I really dislike seeing dogs being rehomed at such old ages. They're so comfortable being with their owners and then having to be replaced is so sad. I'd go to the extreme if I was in your position..let the dogs hang out at a friend's for a couple days until you settle in your new home, and then have the dogs home again, haha, I guess I just love to take my chances. I'd do anything for my dogs!
Ask a question and you're a fool for three minutes; do not ask a question and you're a fool for the rest of your life.
Good luck in finding them new homes. I'm sorry this happened.
I understand the situation you're in. Very well. I know it isn't easy, especially when people want to tell you that this is your fault and you're not a good owner. It's hard enough to deal with, without that breathing down your neck.
Yes, i also wouldnt move some place that i couldnt take my dogs, cat and rabbit- There are many houses for rent im sure in your area and maybe you should keep looking- It isnt these dogs faults that you have to move and you get a cozy home and they get rehomed or put in a shelter? Im not trying to be mean but i do feel for these poor dogs, how can you pick and choose which ones you will take and which ones cant and they have to go to new homes? I would keep searching for a house that would allow all your pets not just one or two. The land lord knows you have all these dogs, why would he offer you anther one of his homes knowing you do have these dogs? and then he said you can move to this rental property but need to get rid of your dogs? I wouldnt do it- I think you will regret the choice to leave your dogs behind- I wouild do what ever it took to keep my dogs with me. Of coarse we just bought a home so i dont have that problem anymore but i wouldnt rent from some one that wouldnt allow my dogs or cat or rabbit.. imho
Excuse me OP but why in the world do you have so many pets when you rent? Brady bunch or no you had a lot to start with before boyfriend moved in. I agree with the others I would NEVER move and leave my pets behind. People really should be more responsible when they take on a pet. It's for life not just for how long the lease lasts! GEEZ!
