The bending of the bone part and swelling of joints is what got me.. I had read on another site that it does spread to the other legs because its not just one leg that has insufficient nutrients, its the whole body not getting the right things.
Please remember that it is very difficult, espically on this site to write a post and try to keep it short enough that people will read and respond. Because personally I know that if a post is to long I skip over and miss important things then sound like an idiot because I respond without reading properly. So thats what I was trying to do, give you all a brief run down of some of his symptoms and ask for some help.. The dog does show more symptoms of this disease than I had written. I just pray that if it is this disease that we have caught it in time to cure being that he his 7 months old. He (as this article says) is almost half way in between the cure and cut off date for helping him.
Yeah thats whats crazy it was the same office but I think it may have been a differnt guy because when we got there I noticed on the door like 4 different names of vets that go there. I figured its not the same guy. But yeah we will be going else where.
Ya there are some crooked vets out there, It seemed like he had no idea what was wrong so he was giving the facts you already knew... I would DEF. go to another vet and see what they have to say and if its different then i would tell him what the other vet said to you... That was rediculous to charge you for that.... GOOD LUCK! let us know what happens....
PS: your a really good friend to that girl shes lucky!
Ok so I went to a different vet and guess what....yup thats right he does, in fact, have Rickets! How messed up is that. Something just wasnt sitting right with me and that other vet.. and to think he told her to let it go untreated! It makes me wonder if I could be a better vet than some, and I hardly know anything about a dogs anatomy! Some people! How they were even able to become a vet is beyond me! But I just wanted to let you all know and thanks for all the help.. Now we need to go get him a vitiman D shot and some different food and all will be fine! Thanks again all!
Is there anyway you can ask for a refund from the first vet for a total misdiagnosis of the problem? I mean, what if you had just taken his word and not taken the dog to a different vet? I would at least call there and give them a piece of my mind...rickets is a pretty serious health condition.
