I'd advise against trying to pick up a fully-grown Saint Bernard by the skin of it's neck. It's done because it's the easiest way for the mother to carry them place to place. But some females do pick them up by going around the tummy straight over the back, but the only females I've seen do that had very soft mouths.
Dogs cannot sin; that is a privilege exclusively for humans.
Ouch!! i wouldn't want someone to pick me up by the skin onmy neck....a pup being picked up by it's mother isone thing but why would a person grab their dog by the skin on their necks? If you feel the need to be able to grab them put a collar on them and grab the collar or harness....just my op!
I've always heard it was fine. However, personally I hate seeing it. I would rather pick up my dog a little more lovingly.
But if any of you watch Cesar Milan (dog whisperer) He says certain ways that I would hold my dog are wrong like like cuddling my dog on my hip or my hands under her bottom and her paws on my shoulder.. He says its wierd for the dogs themselves. (he never said this personally to me but when I was watching and episode he was telling some couple.) However, he didnt mention how to hold them either he just said the wrong or awkward ways for the dog to be held.
