I had a problem with my pup barking when ever we had company and wouldnt stop. I posted about it on here and a few members told me to use a water bottle and squirt him and it worked and still works to this day- now he just sees the water bottle and stops barking and goes and lays down.... i didnt think it would work but it did , it was a very peaceful thanksgiving with all the family over- we were stressing because of Bentley and his nonstop barking- hope some one can help you- there are alot of great ppl with awsome advice-
HI IM NEW HERE AND I JUST WANTED TO SAY MY 3 GERMAN SHEPHERDS BARK ALOT ESPECIALLY AT NIGHT CONSTANTLY AND WE ALREADY HAVE COMPLAINTS BY THE NEIGHBORS BUT ITS THERE DOGS THAT MAKE THEM BARK ANY SUGGESTIONS FOR A BARKING DOG HOW TO KEEP THEM FROM BARKING LIKE THAT WE TRYED MUZZLES AND THEY DIDNT WORK LOL..WHATS LEFT TO TRY WOULD BE THE BARKING COLLARRIGHT..
"arent beagles barky dogs/ i mean bark all the time?"
Yes, beagles are very 'vocal' dogs, but not in the sense you think. They are not non stop barkers usually. They do have a 'bay' that they do, some more than others, but usually for a reason. Our girl is very vocal, but not in a non stop barking sense.
Pugs are generally a more quiet breed, but their are exceptions to every rule, lol
Anything in particular that seems to get your dog barking specifically?
People are like slinky's, not really good for much. But its still fun to push them down the stairs.
Angel I have a 6 mth old Puggle. He was a rescue we have had him 6 weeks. He just started to bark the other day. We are using "quiet" everytime he barks. We look at him, say quiet and close our hand like making a mouth close. We do it every time. Beagles do bark a lot, they also bay. I don't want him doing that, we are having a bit of a problem potty training him. But patience in all things.
I have problems with Daisy(my daughters Beagle)barking when she is outside. She will bark at the wind, leaves, cars and so on. Wiley use to bark at the people walking by.
What I did to solve that problem was by a spray collar. It works like a charm and now Wiley doesn't even have to wear it any longer. I do take it off Daisy during the night when she is crated and when in the house.
A lot of dogs bark, but if you want them to stop, put pennies in a can and shake it whenever you want the dogs attention. Then when the dog is focused on you, tell him/her "NO" in a stern voice to let him/her know YOU are incharge!
I'm new here...My problem is w/ my Great Pyr, male, neutered, age 17 months. Any advice is welcome (I'll try the pennies in a can!). I see "PyrMom" has 3 so I'm sure she has alot of advice! Love to hear from her! I've tried a muzzle for early/late times outside and considered a shock collar. When I saw you have to shave the neck area I sent it back.
My little guy just started puppy class last Saturday and because he growls and barks at people/other animals the lady told us to first ask him to be quiet, in order to give him a chance to do it on his own, then if he doesnt listen tell him in a stern voice 'quiet' and if the continual barking persists to say Quiet one last time followed by a quick squirt of water (not a mist) from a squirt bottle on the nose. THen when he stops tell him 'good boy/girl'once he is quiet. Ive only had to squirt Koda once so far, and if we are going into a situation that i know he will want to bark (ie we are walking by people) I tell him quiet and reasure him with good boy while walking by the people.. So far it seems to be working. Hope you find something that works for you.
I can only say that my other dog was a barker. I found that a long walk (1hr/2 times a week) helped. I wanted to know if anyone has heard of a non barking Minin Schnauzer? Mine only barked twice. Any suggestions?
This is Holly"s Mama. I am proud Owner of a new Mini Schnauzer. She never Barks. Not once. Why? Any answers will be helpful.
