Well, I sent the OFA x-rays off for 2 of my dogs a couple of weeks ago. Shaka my female GSD, and Kimbo my male Dutch Shepherd. Well Kimbo's hasn't come back yet, but I got Shaka's the other day. Her hips came back as GOOD. I'm so happy. This was the last thing we were waiting on to find out if I was going to breed her. It has been such a wait to get dogs that are of the quality that I wanted for breeding. The vet and I are talking about breeding her on this upcoming season, which she should be coming in in about 2 weeks. Haven't decided if I should breed her this heat or the next. I'm so excited. This has been years of work, and thousands of dollars, and now it's coming together. I'm still waiting to hear about my Dutches OFA's, they should pass with no problems, but I'm a worrier when it comes to these things:) Thanks for letting me share my excitement.
We should strive to be the kind of people our dogs think we are.
That is great!! I just talked with several vets in the area that do x-rays, and they are very expensive, but well worth it. I am also very glad that you are being a responsible breeder in having the testing done, and waiting until she is old enough. CONGRATS!!!
Thanks Bullies, I have been working very hard on this. It has taken me 10 years to get to this point. I have gotten dogs in the past, and spayed and neutered them because they were not the correct color, temperment, or the hips didn't clear. I nuetered, and cried when I did, my champion bloodline German Shepherd who I had been showing for years, because his hips were bad. But it has been worth the wait. Here are a couple of pics of my two dogs that I'm breeding. Simba is my male, and he has cleared all his test too.
