I ride both english and western, but I prefer english! I love jumping! I don't know how high I jump and I haven't ridden in a while cause my instructors husband got cancer and their really occupied w/ that and stuff. I've been riding for about 5 years (or something like that) I used to ride an Arabian but now I ride a Quarter horse.
I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. -Phil. 4:13
I have a 19 year old Arabian that I adopted from a rescue facility last summer, but I have not rode her all winter. But I am in the process of changing that right now. Last fall I got hurt really bad on her and have been a little gun shy. But the accident was my stupidity. I was riding bareback and halter reining (stupid at my age - 41) and the other horse with us wasn't the greatest behaving horse. He had had issues with bolting before, and he took one look at my horse as we were running along side each other and I believe said to her in secret horse language "let's race!" that was all she wrote. Next thing I woke up in a hospital upstate that I had been airlifted to. She apparently had made it back to the corral and hit her brakes at the gate and I was flung off into a big wooden post. Terrible concussion, bleeding pancreas, and definitely some sore muscles! I rode her one time since and even though I don't quite remember the accident well the fear is still there.
I used to ride-had an arabian growing up and have just started looking again.
Went and rode a rocky mountain horse yesterday-which was honestly my first time on a gaited breed. He was great but I am kinda stuck on a quarter horse. My cousin is looking to and she loved him so she is going to lease with option to buy in a couple months.
I just want to do trails. I don't want to blow all that money to show again!

I rode horses all the time when I was in school. I had my own beautiful chestnut mare. Her name was Skippa Pine Lulu. Her dad was Zippo Pine Bar. Lulu was a great show horse. I did BArrel racing, and western shows with her. Until I found out that the people we got her from ruined her after we sent her to their house to wean her colt. We sold her because she'd been foundered.
Now I get to ride once a year.
Oh, if I could only afford my own horse right now!!
I currently have a paint and a mustang that I ride. I do a litle bit of everything but most of my time is spent trail riding and doing ranch work. I like the paint the the mustang is my go to horse for everything, there is nothing she can't do if asked.
sry if this is out of topic. i use to ride, i did it for seven years then the man who taught ne to ride died, he was like my father, so i stopd riding. i would love to get back in it tho. i use to ride western. the only think is i never really had lessions i just got on and did it. i would lik to find a place thats kind of like that. im in southern california. thanks so much.
