Why not just try a few short trips? We just got a rescue Puggle about 10 days ago. He was forced to take a 1 hour ride with us to get home, but I had him cuddled in a blanket and he was fine. Since then he has been in the car 4 times for short trips which he seems to enjoy. Short being 15 minutes tops. Have always had animals always traveled with them. Live in Michigan, our daughter and her family live in Tennessee we drive! Good luck!!
I can strive for excellence, I leave perfection to God
Any breed if trained properly would do well as a traveler. Please remember that you can't just leave them in the car even on a warm day. They can overheat and die very quickly especially a pug. Sometimes when you are going on vacation and going to be stopping a lot to look at things it is safer to leave your pet at home with a pet sitter or in a reputable kennel.
I agree with corgilover. Just get them used to it. We usually bring our puppy along with us in the car. I don't want him freaking out every time we go to the vet, plus my daughter loves having him in the backseat with her.
we have a pug and a boston. Our boston likes riding in the car he sits in the back (hes a bit bulky to be on my lap for longer trips) and keeps the girls company.
Our pug loves them to, he will eather climb in my shirt sleve (I usualy have a hoodie on over my shirt and he clibs in the hoodie) or he will sleep on one of the girls. I think most dogs will do fine in a car if they are intruduced at an early age, not all dogs like car rides a lady i know has a yorkie and she shakes and drolls through the whole car ride. I think it all depends on the dog its self.
I'm gonna trade this life for fortune and fame I'd even cut my hair and change my name
Thanks for all the good advice. When im traveling im planning on getting out alot and the dog would always get out with me, i know that it can get very warm in a car and you should never leave a dog in there for to long or at all. Thanks
I don't think it depends on the breed...I think it depends on the individual dog. If you get it as a puppy and expose it to traveling early, it ought to be just fine with it. However, some dogs are prone to car sickness and just don't like traveling....and some love it.
