Our beloved pet of 7 yrs just past away due to the dog food that had been recalled but it was not the wet it was dry he had kidney failure and toxins in his blood had blood coming from him and we have been feeding the same kind of food to our 2 yr old dog that we keep out side. and our cat is sick also took her to the vet after the passing of our dog cause we kept both in the house cause we thought that i might have been something that she could have get from the dog but they told us no and gave some meds well a few days later we find out about the recall.
And we got a puppy and was feeding her purina puppy food well now she is getting sick drinking lots of water and urinating very often and i know that i would not be able to go through that again. we can not have kids of our own so we think very highly of our pets they are our babys so on this i guess i am asking you all what can i feed them and what should i do i cant take them to the vet have no money to do so cause of past vet bills and i want to know what you all think i can do about getting something done about the food and trying to do right by my pets and the baby that i had to have put down at the vets office after 6 days of being sick?






You know when i ask for help on what to do i did not want people to upset me so much that i cried you know when i lost my dog i was very upset i need a puppy to help me cope with the lost and yes i know that it cost money but we had it easy til i had to pay for vet bills on the dog that i had put asleep. this really upsets me that i go to a new site that i thought people would under stand and the say all these mean and rude things to me i love my pets so much and would do everything for them and for the one that was sweet my puppy is doing well and cat also amy 2 year old dog that is outside my watch dog is doing good also i talked to the vet and she told me that everything sounded fine i was just upset about lossing my baby boy of 7 years he was my world and i did not want to go through this again and my husband said that they were fine also i just let eveything get to me i take very good care of my pets the are like kids to me and i just wanted help from someone that i thought that would want to help me on what to do about the food recall that kiled my dog my vet called me and told me that my dogs and my name was the first on the list.....

Purina puppy food was not part of the recall. If your pup is sick, it is sick from something not related to the food. You need to get him to a vet now. Make payment arrangements, do whatever you need to so he can get checked out. Not having money to take him is a poor excuse. I know that no one is dripping at the pockets with cash, but he needs you in order to be helped.

It also could be something in your home. Poison, antifreeze, cleaners, any type of chemicals that the animals are getting in to.

Please go to the vet!

Please take your puppy to the vet! You can make payment arangements you can work something out to volunteer at the office or a local shelter talk to your vet they will help you..you just have to ask!

Start cooking for your pets, cats do fine on raw meats.

what food were you feeding the others? and the cat? If you had no money, why did you get a puppy?

This is what really bugs me about this forum is the self righteous attitudes of some people just like this. I have no money to take my pet to the vet ,so you say why did you get a animal. Well all people deserve to have animals . Help this person don't critisize. You haven't walked in their shoes , you don't know their life.

Any way i'll to try to help. Many times I have no extra money to take Piper and Tigger to the vet , let alone my cats. So what my vet does is let me make payments . Talk to your vet , tell him or her your situation , and a lot of times they will be willing to help.If this doesn't work ,there may be low cost clinics in your area you could look into. I hope for the best for your babies.

Kidney failure does not cause an animal to bleed out. Sounds like rat poison to me.

If money is a problem, I understand that then I'd suggest everyone make a budget and budget for the animals. Put aside so much a pay for unexpected vet visits, food, grooming (if they get taken to the groomers), toys then that way when a vet visit is needed you have at least a good start on the bill then ask the vet about payment plans. My vet has payment plans, they call them credit cards. I don't like to use credit cards but if I had to I would, specially for my pet. Sorry about your pets, take care. People deserve to animals, yes.... if they can properly care for them! How is it right for people to go out and get pets and they have no means to feed them or have them taken care of at a vet when they are sick?
You wouldnt say that people deserve to have children even if they dont care for them I would hope anyway.

Now...concerning the OP.....I am not saying this is your case. It may very well be that at one time you were able to pay the vet and things happen in life, situations change and you may be temporarily down on your luck
However....the dog needs to be treated. It isnt fair for him to be sick and suffer without getting help. Try to talk to your vet and make arrangements. If he wont call another vet. Also ask about low cost clinics. Do you have an ASPCA in your area? many times they will help with costs of care.
If all else fails and your pet continues to get worse and you cant get the care, it may be in its best interest to let a rescue take him and help him.

This may sound fishy, you made a post yesterday that you lost your dog (I am sorry), your cat is sick, but you don't have money, but.............. you have money to get a new pup and care for it, when a pup is the very expensive to care for. You are keeping a 2 year old out sidefor what reason. This is pretty new and you lost a dog a cat got sick and your new pup is sick. I wish you could explain.

You know I have thought this on each and every post when people say that they do not have any money for a vet.

My computer was around 1500.00, the Internet is around 50 bucks a month, if printers and scanners are also involved well that is quite a bit of money. Get off line and save some money so you can afford to take your kid to the doctor(vet)! Unless you make your living on line it is just a luxury!

You can't compare animals to the internet ,it's a way of life for people now. Also internet connections , many are cheaper then 50.00 a month. Mine is 29.00 for road runner, some are 25.00 ect ect .There are people out there who don't have the funds to take a animal to the vet at the drop of a hat , or who don't have funds to put money away every pay day. Heck with the cost of fuel oil , food , and gas , who can do it.It doesn't mean some one should't have a pet because of it.

Unless you make your living on line it is just a luxury!

I'm sorry I find this funny, you just make me laugh. I was stating you have to make sacrifices and the Internet can be one to able to afford the vet visits. See my second post on this thread. I'm not judging just stating a fact.

You have to take proper care of your responsibilities! Won't box you for the Internet just telling you money saved is money for your needed vet visits.

Okay i agree you can do without interent computer cable andything extra...something require sacrifice...do you not take your child to the doctor just because you cannot afford it? No you go anyway, why should your pet be any diffrent. i understand hard times i have been there and had to deal with it but we just disconnected the cable and internet for over a year until we could get back on track. The internet is NOT a necessity...send your bills out in the mail, go business to business applying for a job..send a letter through the mail..internet is not needed to live your life...i'm sure her vet will work with her any reputable vet will not let an animal go without care if they are seriously ill...shelters and arescues will help also, help is out there you just have to look for it! good luck

I am sorry you got upset by some of the psts that were made. Everyone has an opinion. An animal is a huge thing. I think we were all trying to make the point that,if you are having money problems the worst thing you can do is get another animal. Puppies often come with problems, parisites, URI's, spay and neutering costs, and the cost of shots with all of thier boosters. I also understand the loss you suffered from loosing you 4 legged baby. My opinion and that is all it is, do not take offence is that anyone who looses an animal and feels they need to fill that void is donate your time. Take time to be with animals that have no one, at a shelter, or rescue. This costs you nothing except a million tugs on the heart strings and gives you time to appreciate what you gave to you beloved animal. I am sorry if you were offended but again everyone has oppinions.

I think sometimes, it's easy for people to forget that the finances of any given household can change faster than it took for you to actually read this sentence.

I don't think it's very reasonable to show up online to a message board and start talking about someone's finances unless you know them, how they live, or how they were prepared financially prior to their first animal getting sick, or even what their finances were when they got their pets. You don't know if they paid for their pets or if someone gave them to them. You don't know how much they've spent this month on vet bills, and you don't know if or how much they sacrificed personally to pay the bills they've gotten so far.

They could be on a library computer, or a computer that someone gave them. They could be on dial up, using one of those free services. How could anyone possibly know?

It's easy to make a lot of assumptions for the purpose of finger pointing, but you know, picking apart someone's finances when they're dealing with sick pets like this is really just kicking them when they're already down. You're not helping. You're not even educating. You're sticking your finger into a fresh wound and you're twisting it.

In addition, there are other important reasons for an internet connection aside from work. I consider my internet connection a requirement because it's my only gateway to my college classes, and college to me isn't a luxury, it's a necessity.

Internet connections nowadays are a neccessity , not a luxary. Most people do their banking on line , talk on line to their families , take college courses on line , check their finances , and so forth. It's like having a phone. Please don't judge other peoples finances. You don't walk in their shoes.
