My yorkie puppy is a little over a year old now. He goes through spurts of vomiting and "hacking up a hair ball" fits. I have taken him to the vet and at first they said he had kennel cough...but after that went away, he still has off and on spouts. Now he smells bad. I think it is his urine. No matter how often I bathe him he still has a funny icky smell to him. (he only smells good the first 12 hours or so) I took him back, but they say there is nothing wrong. I KNOW my puppy is sick. Can any one help me?
The hacking could be a collapsed trachea problem. It's pretty common in small dogs. It sometiems requires surgery. With the urine smell, he could have a urinary tract infection. My sister's yorkie had one recently and his urine was so strong and stinky! Antibiotics cleared that up. I would make an appointment with another vet for a second opinion.
