I know this is more of a cat question, but i thought more people would answer here. I just got a kitten (no name yet, just cant think of one), Iam best friends with the owners and I know the parents(of the kitten) very well. Mom is a fluffy tabby (looks like a lynx) and dad is pure black. They had five litters in a year and a bit (i convinced them to neuter the male). Mine is the only one out of fivelitters that looks like he does. The others were black/tabby or fluffy combinations. I looked at cat pictures and he resembles a bengal??? mom looks like some other lynx cat too. What do u call him?? a lynx point, domestic shorhair? I'm just curious how a cat with two very different parents can look like an entirely different breed of cat. My scanner isn't working so I found one that looks like him, it even has blue eyes like him
If your kitten looks like that one he is gorgeous, I found a kitten like that in a rescue. She was born all white, and her brother was all black like the mom, the mom was a long haired black. I named her Simone, here's her catster page:
I really like gordy. He is a cute kitten. Its funny because I've known him since he was born and picked him out the first day I saw him. When he was with his cat family (mom dad and siblings) he was the calm, collected one. Now hes psycho, racing all around, hissing at the dogs. He follows Taco everywhere and she will stop and clean him, then she bites him and growls and hits him away, lol. I do although think hes a little slow, his eyes are crossed a little bit, he goes completely limp when picked up, and he cant seem to focus on the laser pointer when I'm playing with the other animals, his eyes cant follow it quick enough.
I just caught a ferrel cat that looks very similar to the picture on the website. Beautiful blue eyes and lightly stripped body and stripes on the legs and tail with a few darker features on the face. Haven't seen any cats in the neighborhood that had the whitish/greyish fur like she has. When I took her to the vet, they said that she's a siamese/tabby kitten. http://www.siamoisthai.com/galerie/gkimg69.htm Of course, I don't know where the siamese came from. There's only 2 cats that hang around where I live and one is grayish/charcoal stripped and the other is jet black. I'm just as confused. Good luck!
Actually, a female cat can have kittens by many different fathers in one litter. Sperm can live inside the uterus for up to 3 days. If she gets impregnated by a second male, the sperm that has been sitting in the uterus can also impregnate her. If the cat goes outside, I would think that this could possibly be the cause. But if the cat was bred indoors, it could just be in the genes (my dog is black and mated with a tan dog...ended up having a red dog and brown dogs). But her mother was a red pomeranian. So the genes can be hidden, but come out in a later generation.
That's cool! I had heard that dogs can mate with different dogs and can affect the breed, but hadn't heard anything to confirm that. There is a stipped cat stray cat that has been hanging around the car that I found the kitten, and I'm wondering if that's its dad or mom. But it doesn't have the blue eyes or whitish body, so maybe the past ancestory is coming through.... cool!
