My sneaky cat got into the garbage last night, pulled out a bag of raw ground beef and ate some. The meat was frozen up to that point, as we had pulled it out to use for dinner, but decided not to. Little Bravo didn't eat much, no more than 1/4 of a cup. He seems fine today, no vomitting or diarrhea. I'm worried about parasites such as worms or e.coli. Should I be concerned?
Cats eat raw meat all the time, that is what they are made to eat. I find that cats (at least the ones I have had) won't eat spoiled meat. It shouldn't get sick from eating it. I used to have an outside/inside cat that would bring mice and birds home to eat. He did get worms, and its not pleasant to find. I found something that looked like a small piece of spaghetti on my bed and when i poked it, it moved. Im pretty sure that your cat won't get worms from raw hamburger tho, people feed their animals raw diet all the time, so I don't think you have anything to worry about.
