Hiya just picked my 6 week old puppy up 2 days ago. He is a beautiful pup but is starting to howl when left alone. I have read up on here some tips to stop him howling and im getting confused. some people say ignore it (which isnt fair on neighbours?),some say be firm saying no,some say anti bark collars, and various other suggestions. terified now that i do the wrong thing and i end up with a badly behaved very strong dog when he gets older. wondered if anyone else had a doux de bordeaux, and could give any advice cheers :-)
Each puppy/dog is different when it comes to crate training. IMHO bark collar training for a 6 wk old puppy is wrong. My experience with puppys and crates is to slowing introduce them to crate for very short periods. First crate him and work around him but ignore him. Then build up to crating him and being away from where he is crated but still in the house. You want the crate to be friendly and inviting, his little get away. As a matter of fact one of our dogs is sleeping in a crate right behind my desk. Just remember your puppy is just a little baby at this time. Good luck.
I like him a lot better than I like most people. To you he's a dog. TO me he's an adopted son who is short, hairy, walks on all fours and doesn't speak clearly. I have no problem with any of these. <
