So far, the only foods you have to worry about were processed with wheat gluten imported from China. If you look on the label, Blue does not have wheat or corn ingredients. Many dog experts say that these are hard for dogs to digest and don't add real food value.
Kibble has to have some type of binder or filler in it to hold the meat and vegetable ingredients together. The best dog foods use easily digestible foods, like rice or potato.
Blue Buffalo has a patented process that separates the vitamins and other nutrients from those ingredients (meat, grain fillers, vegetables) which have to be cooked at high temperature. Vitamins, etc. lose up to 75% of their goodness when processed at high heat. In Blue, these are processed separately in what they call a "cold" process.
The two different kibbles are then combined in one bag.
My dogs love it and the old ones seem peppier already, even though I've been feeding Blue for about a week.
What food is better then? Blue Buffalo chicken & brown rice or Nutro Natural Choice Lamb & Rice? That article that suebgone posted just sounds like a dog food company putting down other companies trying to make a sale. I'm still confused about it, help.
