My puppy "Sweety" got a heartworm test this week. A day after the procedure, I realized a redish color on her neck. I looked closer and parted her hair and there was a HUGE bloody bruise at the injection spot (about 2 inches long). And when i say "bloody", i'm refering to its DARK red coloring. IS THIS NORMAL? What happened?
My other dog got her heartworm test done a year ago and the only thing i saw on her neck was a small dot (where the needle entered). They couldn't get any blood out the first time so they had to take the needle out half way and re-enter the needle. But the injection spot was completely fine.
This is why i'm a bit worried that "someone" did not know what he/she was doing while performing the test on Sweety. Was the test done without care? Or is it nothing to worry about?
I would call your vets office and ask to speak to your vet over the phone. Tell he-she what you see. I have seen dogs have allergic reactions to shots. swelling in that area. Stuff like that. Perhaps your dog bruises very easy. I have not seen that. Call your vet.
Whoever said you can't buy happiness, must have never owned a dog!!!!!!!!!!!
