I got my pug (Toby) on the 1st Day of April at 6 weeks old. He is doing very well , had his shots and de-wormers the second day I had him home. At that vet sppointment I pointed out some small itchy, red spots he had when I brought him home. The vet said it was probably unsanitary conditions at the breeders and that I should use Sea Breeze on the spots. Did that, no relief. They also said Benadryl and I have been doing that to get him some relief. The places have spread and are looking worse. I am taking him back to vet tomorrow but wondered if there are any natural home remedies that I can use to stop this itching? Plus I have decided on a different vet.
Thanks in advance for any advice.
I saw a place to upload a picture but dont see that now , would also appreciate any help with that.
There is a spray cortisone that is very good for itchies, also aloe works. Anything soothing. Yes, it could be caused by the food.
Since your puppy came from a back yard breeder you can expect to find health problems all along the way. Puppies should not leave the mom & siblings until 12 weeks of age. Matter of fact in most states 6 weeks is illegal.
be sure he is getting 4 meals a day with a late nite snack as their glucose levels can drop very low if they go to long without eating, especially during the nite which can cause seizures.
I agree with Puttin510. Have a skin scraping done even if the vet says it looks ok. I had a dog a while back and I took him to three vets because of his rash and scratching. Finally by the third vet we found out it was scabies. Six weeks of my little guy being bright yellow with the most nastiest smelling medicine he was cured. Good luck
