I have a 5 mo old lab puppy and she jumps on the back patio door (typically when she wants in, its dinnertime, i get home from work). I have tried to ignore her and i have tried to tell her no. Ignoring her seems to work better, but she won't stop. I was told that she would grow out of this, but it has been going on for 3 months. Help.
I've had this problem too. I found ignoring him worked very well. Once he was calm I would approach and give him the command to "sit". Only then would I open the door, give him a treat and allow him to enter. After a few times he would just come to the door, sit and wait.
Our trainer always told me, ignore the bad praise the good. It's the hardest lesson I've had to learn. Still not great at it but I try.
