My neighbor has a 1 year old dachsund named holly and she told me that she feeds her dog chocolate as a treat. She also gives her all kinds of sweets. Yesterday we were on the trampoline and she started to give her dog cotton candy, her dachsund is already over weight as it is and she is sitting their feeding it crap. Her dog never eats regular dog food she says, she said they always feed holly what they are having for dinner. Is this like bad to be feeding your dog all this junk? Oh and as we were going for a walk, the dog was getting extremely thirsty after like 5 minutes and then she let it drink some of her 7up soda from her canister, I am beggining to wonder how much longer this dog is going to live, I mean seriously a dog should not be having sugar and greasy foods like Holly is, holly will probably have diabeties or something. I kind of feel bad for that dog because she is overwieght and can barely even survive a walk without a drink of water or soda. Should I say something to the girl about her feeding her dog all that junk?
It's really unhealthy for the dog. Dogs, like people can develop diabetes. Doxies should be kept very trim due to their backs. You can find some general info on dog nutrition and try to give it to her, but otherwise this dog will simply live a very short, very poor life.
A cat by any other name... is still a sneaky little furball who pukes on the sofa.
she is 15 I just met her and I told her chocolate was toxic to dogs, but she is just sticking to her opinion that it isn't, we'll that is at least the way she made it sound. She told me that her dog has always eaten chocolate and is fine and that was it, then I said it was toxic, she said no it isn't. So after that we walked our dogs and I got sick of watng her dog jumk so I went home.
Ask her why she doesn't want the dog?Because it sounds like shes trying to kill it? Rubbermaid makes lots of garbage bins instead if she has the erge. Dogs are not garbage canisters. Give her a llist as well of all the medical problems the dog will likely get and ask her if she has all this money that she will need. Lets see- Pancreatitis Back and spine inflamation (muscular) Paralysis of limbs, limbs don't work if the spine is messed up due to obesity. Diabetes (big time) Poor oral health Malnutrition Constipation Pain discomfort/depression etc -I could go on, tell her to come on here and have a chat with me....GGrrr
ok well I talked to Madison about all the problems her dog could get from eating all that junk, But she is all like my dog is fine and she refuses to eat regular dog food, geee I wonder why LOL Her dog is use to eating sugar and humans food that the dog thinks is awesome so then obviously he would not want to eat disgusting dog food. My dog eats regular dog food and everynow and then she will receive a carrot peel as a treat and rarely a small peice of an apple or strawberry (smaller than bite size) :)
Please print this out and show it to your friend. People often think it's funny when dogs eat "unusual" things like candy or pop. She will kill this dog if she continues. Your friend needs to remember one very important thing- the size of her dog. She is much bigger than this small breed and is feeding it HUGE (dog size compared to human size) amounts of sugar.
As far as I am concerned feeding a dog candy, pop or other garbage food is abuse.
yea, I mentioned to her parents and they told me that their dog can take in whatever, they assume this because they took their dog to the vet about 2 1/2 months ago and the vet said their dog was healthy, they are seriously just stubborn people that completely and a 100% think they are always right and I really don't think that they will stop with this accessive junk thingy for their dog. I don't want to get in their bussiness anymore than I already have and my parents won't let say a word about them feeding their dog junk. ARG
=( What horrible pet owners! Poor dog! I was ashamed that the girl was stubborn but the parents too? I would consider that abuse also! =( Gosh, I hope someone helps that poor dog before they kill it. I really can't believe someone would do something like that.
A dog is the only thing on earth that loves you more than he loves himself. - Josh Billings
If you have talked to both the parents and the friend then there's not much else you can do. I feel sorry for the poor dog though. I have a 5 yr old and I had to watch her b/c she would try to give my English bulldog everything- and of course being a dog- my bully would try to eat everything. However getting back to the subject- there really much else you personally can do. If you were to get too involved it could cause a problem. I would talk to your parents and see what they can do.
