i assume its from playing around with our other dogs she is not really around anything that can cut her. i cleaned it out, but i was wondering if there is anything else i should do. something i should put on the cut or just leave it alone.
ew...:( maggots...I have absolutely nothing of use to say right here, the person above explained it. :) A kitten we had a long time ago had one in her neck, we pulled it out and it healed right up and she was perfectly healthy. I have no idea how it got there or anything, it was strange..
Easily. Flies are attracted to rotting food/flesh. When your dog gets a cut, and it gets infected.. that's exactly what is happening. A fly lands on the infection, lays It's eggs.. and a maggot is what you get. I'm deathly terrified of those things.
If its a deep cut, the vet should see it, if its just a scrape type of thing. no problem. Keep it clean. Get a container of bag balm. everyone in the household can use that stuff. i just got finished healing up a wound on my rescue with B.B.
Whoever said you can't buy happiness, must have never owned a dog!!!!!!!!!!!
Your kidding right Maggots?? oh my gosh- never in my life time have i heard of this. Really maggots? just on cuts or sores? your dogs cant get maggots just because a fly lands on it for no other reason but to land on your dog right? This is way creepy-
this doenst really have anything to do with dogs, but cuts on animals yes. i had a hamster when i was little and a fly got into his cage and ate a whole through his stomach over night. so i do believe that it can happen to a dog. or any animal for that matter. its more likely to happen to dogs that are outside often or horses. nasty it is!
