Hi, my name is Rachel and I am new to the whole breeding dogs. Done my reserch done my home work, and have been breeding and raising nigerian dwarf goats and horses for many years, so I have common knowledge when it comes to breeding animals, it is just every animal is different. OK I am breeding miniature pinschers and my husband has redbone coonhounds, coon hounds are still puppies. But my female min pin came into heat today, bleeding swollen, the whole nine yards, but my male is showing no interest in her, and trust me he know how to breed he has bred females before. Is it just that she just came in and she is not ready yet? please explain. thanks guys! Rachel
LOL I was worried about the same thing, even posted a thread about Artificial Insemination just in case! Then Duke came to the rescue! He knows (maybe by the smell) when it is "time" to do his studly duties! He had no interest in Abby AT ALL and then all of a sudden it was breed city...and the pups are due in 3 weeks! Dobermans, that is!
A male will not show any interest until the ovulation time, what is usually between 10-15 days sometimes sooner or later. Since you did your research and homework on breeding dogs, may I ask about show results of your breeding pair? And what health test have you done on them?
