My friend had some slippery elm powder that her vet gave her for her dog that had an upset stomach. It really helped. My dog had an upset stomach and she made me some of the powder, mixed with water, and boiled... It worked... I need more. My vet doesn't have it, and my friend moved to Colorado. Any suggestions to where I can get some, just to keep around for when my dog's belly is upset?
Try your local natural food store. Be likely to be purer from there too. There are enough warnings online about the possibility of contamination from metals and other things since it doesn't have FDA approval. Least from a human supplier it might be safer.
Slippery Elm is a great herb for dogs. My mom has a Chihuahua x Min Pin that was diagnosed with irritable bowel syndrome and vomiting that they could never find a cause for 3 yrs ago. She would vomit every other day for no apparent reason. After putting her on several different medications and food nothing seemed to help. She read about Slippery Elm and decided to give it a try a year ago. She gets it at the health food store. It comes in capsules. She opens the capsule and mixes half of the powder into her food once a day. That is the only thing that has kept her bowels and stomach in check. No more problems with her bowels at all and the vomiting has gone from every other day to only maybe once per month. She swears by it!!
