We were driving home from the cabin today and saw a moose, walking on the other side of the highway. It was sunny out, not too much traffic. If we saw it, surely the people in front of us saw it. Well we kept watching this moose, and it crossed the one side of the highway, stopped in the grass in the divider, we slowed down, keeping an eye on it. Then the moose ran out on to our side of the highway..right into a brand new mustang. What is wrong with people? Do they pay attention to things on the road?? We watched this moose for about a 30 seconds before it even ran out on the highway. Why not slow down? I'm almost 100% sure the people who hit it saw it way before their car even drove near it. The car didn't hit right on, the moose more jumped into/over the car on the drivers right side. Not much more than a dent in the car, but the moose was on the road struggling to get up. We pulled over to see if we had anything in the trunk to put the moose out of its misery (I couldn't even look at the moose, it was struggling to get back on its feet, but couldn't). We didn't have anything in the car so we left, someone had already stopped to check on the driver of the car, all ok. The image of that moose still haunts me, and I was sobbing the whole way home. I love animals, and can approach any animal with confidence, but I freak when I see them suffer. I really want to help them, but I pretty much break down and cant even look at the animal. How do you put all things aside and go help the animal? I was a wreck over a moose, what would I do if my pet got hit by a car?
I just had to vent, I can't stand stupid drivers. Everyone else slowed down to see if it would cross, but this stupid driver just kept going. Ugggh, people make me mad.
this was a long time ago ,but one time i was driving and didn't see a deer that was standing in the middle of the road and hit him. just because you see something doesn't mean other people do. i doubt the driver of the stang wanted to hit a moose with his car.it was a accident.
about 6 months ago i was freaked out driving home from work driving over the mid hudson bridge because the way the bridge is set up ,there's this concrete divider to seperate the roads either going or coming onto the bridge.there's no place to safely walk in the center . i seen a deer laying on the side of the concrete divider struggling to stand up , and couldn't with cars rushing past him. it was sad and that image still haunts me.he must've tried to jump the divider to get to the other side and got hit.just like with the moose ,the driver probably didn't see this deer and hit him.
