I saw two movies this weekend that I just have to add to the list..... *Children of Man (totally didn't get it. If you have seen in and know the answers please let me know, what is the human project, was it ever explained, who was Jasper, was he related to Theo, what was the ending, seemed a little "blue lagoonish" for me at the end there.) * The Hitcher (not enough space in all of the internet to list all of the reasons for it's maximum suck-itude.

dusty, i have to agree with you on Babel. that movie was awful, but it seems like a lot of the "big, award-winning" movies are bad in my opinion. like the one that came out a couple years ago with bill murray and scarlett johanssen, i can't remember the name, it took place in asia. anyway, that was supposed to be this "great" movie but it was horrible!
Children of Men is what's known as a 'Road' movie. As in, they don't give much info on the destination, the story is more about the road the characters took to get to the destination. I'm not positive, but I'd guess that premise is taken from "The Road Not Taken" Poem by Robert Frost. Most people have heard the last verse of that poem, which is "Two roads diverged in a wood, and I--- I took the one less travelled by and that has made all the difference."
So the movie is about the road these people took to reach their destination. When you get to the end of the movie, the audience is left to their own imagination, to come up with the 'what happens next'. For me, the sound of children laughing in the credits is supposedly meant to imply either way, the future for Kee, Theo and the rest of humanity will be a positive one.
As far as the Human Project, from what I interpreted in the movie, it was a group dedicated toward the preservation of humanity, not just keeping humans from being extinct but going back to a nuturing society that would be appropriate for raising children in. It was left deliberately ambiguous as well. I guess an optimist would see a hopeful ending, and a pessimist would think, oh great, another group that's going to use Kee and kill Theo.
Ok, my exposition on that movie is complete :) Oh, one more thing. Jasper is just one of the few personal friends Theo has left.

Never trust a tall dwarf... he's lying about something.
To each his own. I enjoy being horrified and disgusted at horror movies. It's fantasy and it's sort of what it's supposed to be all about.
I can't think of anything more terrifying than being raped and terrorized by a clan of mutated cannibals, stuck in the middle of nowhere. I guess the man knows what he is doing after all. Plus of course, our heroes in that movie got their revenge and survived...
I am always confused when people get so offended by entertainment. Some seem to forget that we are supposed to leave reality, our daily problems or stress at home, and just enjoy letting ourselves get lost in the story (or music) for an hour or two.
So chalk me up as one of the people that's sick in the head.
I really like horror movies. BUT, I did have a slight problem with devils rejects, I don't really like satanic things. I've watched the whole movie and will probably watch it again but it gives me chills and freaks me out! Same with "the hills have eyes", creeps me out! Now I have this huge fear of my vehicle breaking down in the middle of nowhere and some sketch case man/creature attacking me...
I really can't stand movies with Will Ferrell in them. He really isn't that funny and to me, he doesn't have a personality. The Rocky and Rambo movies I enjoyed because the guy beat the crap out of everyone and fought for what he believed in. Yeah the acting isn't great but at least Sylvester was nice to look at, not like Will Ferrell. Any Christmas movies except for Badder Santa. But the worst movie ever must be Captain Correlli's Mandolin. Not because of Nick Cage but the movie seemed so long and it didn't really have a point. It got to the point where my friend and I were trying to guess when the movie was going to end and when the big earthquake is going on and people are dying, we're killing ourselves laughing because the movie was so stupid.
The hills have eyes is just bad and yucky. as well as silent hill also creepy plus the grudge- just wierd ..
I love family movies all the old dean jones movies by disney are great! :) And I hate movies that have bad endings just because they can't be happy.. Just because they don't want to have the cute movie title... arg hate it when they kill a dog or a perso just to make you cry.. pisses me off big time.. You know the kind where you find yourself thinking "why did he have to die?"
If you think dogs can't count, try putting three dog biscuits in your pocket and then giving Fido only two of them.
