I have VPI. I have not used it much on my girl Jasmine, but I've gotten hundreds, if not over a thousand, dollars back from them over Riley's lifetime. He's 2 now. He's been hit by a car, had lyme disease, massive ear and skin infections, etc. So it's been helpful.
You basically pay your vet up front, then send in a claim form, and about 3-6 weeks later they send you a check. It's nice to know after an emergency you will get some money back.

I thought about it and read alot on it and finally decided to put money back each week just like a savings account. It adds up fast. We have spent oodles of money on ours but it really comes in handy when they need something and the money is there. When Max passed away the 14th of this month he had been in to see the vet a week before, then with being in the hospital for 3 days on IV's, having him cremated and all of it together hitting close to 1,000.00 in 2 weeks it was good to have had the money. Just a suggestion, but it works for me.
i did the same as you sandysbabies .. you never know when that $1500.00 vet bill is for sure going to happen. now we have pet insurance through my husband's employer, just like the insurance that we have for ourselves. look into that. ipet insurance might be something that your employer offers as well. if not i know that petsmart offers a pet insurance plan that isn't overly expensive.
