When I lived in Kansas we had several fenced doggie parks. Now I'm in PA and we have none-does anyone know who to contact in a city to start one? Ops, I put JetsMom for topic title! I should have put "dog parks".
Welcome to TP. You will have to call the city council and visit with them to see what can be done. I don't know the size of your town or what the circumstances are so a few phone calls and you will know.
we don't neccesarily have a dog park, I just take angel to a regular park, and Angel enjoys it, we play fetch, go down the slides. And Angel will even go on the swing!!! FUN! So for now maybe you can take your dog to a regular park, or a lake so your dog could have a fun swim :)
I think I agree with Gunny on this one and Lord knows the powers to be don't need much excuse for dog bans.
To address OP's question though,I too live in PA and have for most of my life. At least in my area (York Co), any attempt to get a dog park has not been well received. The officials in this state are way too liability shy. Good Luck.
Dogue I live about an hour away from you. Most of the parks in my area do not even allow dogs to enter. There are only 2 that I know of that I can take Faeden to. I believe Lancaster has a "dog area" in Buchanan Park, but it is not much to speak of. I doubt that we will have any outside of Philly and Pittsburgh.
Hi there, I live in Michigan and there are quite a few. The one that is closest to us even has a pond. You pay a $20.year permit fee and you can use it dawn to dusk hours. Its great. I know you don't live here, but someone else suggestion is a great one. Your local community or county may have one calling your City/Town Hall will get your the best information. I think they are wonderful.
