I took Boo boo to the vets this morning, she has alot of fluids on her lungs, she gave me 2 options.
1. Take her to a specialist to do an ultrasound to see if its heart/lung disease (they cant see because of the fluid) 2. Give her some diraretics pills to see if that will clear off her lungs 3. Or put her down.
I dont know what to do... of if I should go down there if she needs to be pts.....
Depending on her age, I would say Specialist. My cat Buddy just went through a crisis with pneumonia and hepatic lipidosis and I spent almost two grand just to get him better. He was as close to death as an animal can be. He's 8 yrs old and I figured he has half his life yet to live so I went for broke to make him better. At times it felt like I was torturing him with all the meds and the force feedings, but now he's all better and all the effort, and praying, paid off. It took 3 months to get him better.
I say, don't give up on Boo Boo just yet. Hope everything works out for you and your kitty.
I know how hard of a decision it would be. If I can just put my 2cents in and this is only what I would do, okay? I would try the lasix first. It might be if its congestive heart failure it will drain all that off and help her. Let us know and I hope the little thing gets better.
I went and picked her up.. she's on Furosemide (Lasix) and Amoxicillian twice a day. She's gonna be spoiled rotten, that is if she'll eat, the next couple of days. Vet said we'd know in 3-5 days if the meds are gonna work.
EDIT: And as I goto submit it, I notice her eating cat food. Keep your fingers crossed for us.
Somene told me about this dietary suppliment called Nutra-Cal that's high in calories and nutrients. It's good for dogs and cats that are off their usual eating. I gave it to my cat and it was just the boost he needed to start feeling better and eating on his own. It's a paste in a tube and you give them a tablespoon per 10# weight. I found mine on 1-800 PetMed. But maybe the Vet has it or a pet food speialty place. It's not expensive. $6.00 a tube.
