i was walking down my road the other day with my dog which is trained with a leash, but she would rather be running freely. now i dont agree that you should have your dogs running up and down the road. But for the most part she stays by my side and doesnt run off. I had her on a leash simply because we were going to walk on the high way. now a neighboor of mine who has three dogs came out to comment about the speed i would drive down the road. which is neither here nore there but i was quick to tell her if she wanted to inforce laws on me like a police officer i will do the same and let you know their is a leash law and you are not to let your dogs run freely up and down the road. But then i thought. To a point is the law ridiculous. I mean what if we were just walking up and down a backroad or a non county maintained road. Is it a good law there. What do you think???
I live in the country - not within city limits, therefore even though the city has a leash law, we do not HAVE to follow it. I do, out of safety for my dogs and courtesy for my neighbors, however most of them do not. It would really depend as to whether you live within city limits. (If you have to pay to have a library card, then most likely leash laws don't apply.)
i absolutely agree. i would never let my dog off leash in a city or country setting... my dog would definitely run into the road or get into trouble. he is safe on a leash. i have seen a dog get run over and it was horrible. not worth the risk. never.

i never said that i let my dog off with out a leash outside the fence. if anything was to ever put my dog in danger i wouldnt take the chance. if you read correctly i was telling a woman down the road that she should also being having her dogs on a leash.
Totally agree with the leash law. It is, as some have noted, as much for the animals protection as the protection of others. No matter how well trained a dog is, it can be startled. Being startled can cause them to forget everything. I have lived in places with and without leash laws and my dogs were always leashed.
yes i had her on a leash on the walk that is what i said. and i also did say that she stays by me for the most part. but what you failed to read was the first part of that when i said that i had her on a leash during the walk. we have a big bck yard and when ever i am working or just letting her play she stays mainly by me.
